SUMMARY:Donna Mogavero
DESCRIPTION:Donna Mogavero is a singer/songwriter and professional entertainer. Donnas’ musical recognition of 30+ years began in high school. In the early ‘90’s she was recognized and awarded several Columbus Music Awards in categories of outstanding rock and folk vocalist\, artist deserving higher recognition\, acoustic solo performer and recording artist. In the late 1990’s she wrote The Streets Where I Live. This song gave the listener a vivid description of what life looked and felt like in what is now known as “the art district” called The Short North before renovation of the area in early 2000. Shortly after that\, with a little tweaking the song was used by Experience Columbus to promote and market Columbus\, Ohio. She was the first woman Grand Marshall in 2015 for Columbus’s Italian Festival. She had her own Sunday Radio Show called the Acoustic Coffee House on Cd(101) now 92.9 from 1991-’95 and 1998-2000. \nShe recently released her long awaited fourth original Cd The End Of the Drive\,  a compilation of songs that tell many stories flavored in rock\, country\, folk yet signature Donna Mogavero style. The album is a tribute to all her friends and fans who have stood by her through the years “and back again.” \nThursday Happening Hour shows are sponsored by our proud partners Bank of America. \nRESERVATIONS are strongly encouraged for our FREE Happening Hour Shows! \n

SUMMARY:Blues & Beyond: Cigar Box Scott
DESCRIPTION:Old Songs Made New: Scott wraps traditional folk songs in driving\, crowd-pleasing rhythms\nAs Cigar Box Scott\, Scott Atkinson presents traditional and classic folk and roots music in a completely new way. With strong rhythms and a driving beat\, he takes songs he loves and gives them new life\, making them accessible for audiences of all types on cigar box guitar and his homemade foot stompbox. \nThe cigar box guitar brings the songs to life: Think ‘‘Banjo-meets-Delta-blues-guitar’‘\nA longtime folkie and musician\, when Scott got his hands on a cigar box guitar for the first time in spring 2022\, it changed everything. “I could finally play these old songs the way I’ve always wanted.” Unlike most cigar box players who focus on blues and rock\, Scott took to it like it was a banjo\, combining melodies and rhythms for old-time\, bluegrass\, blues\, and folk songs. Old songs get new rhythms\, chords\, and sometimes completely new melodies. \nScott’s Folk Pedigree: Managing Editor at Sing Out! Magazine\nScott worked at iconic folk music journal Sing Out! Magazine from 2000 – 2006. Under the mentorship of Mark D. Moss\, he gained an even greater appreciation for this music. Scott had the pleasure of working with Pete Seeger and was the organizer of the Pete Seeger Tribute Concert\, Where Have All the Flowers Gone\, featuring Pete \,Natalie Merchant\, July Collins\, Janis Ian\, Bruce Cockburn\, and many others. \nAuthor of a Traditional Songbook\nScott is the author The Essential Bluegrass & Old-Time Songbook\, a collection of 50 traditional songs for jamming and song circles with melodies\, chords\, lyrics\, and stories and background. He has several other songbooks of traditional songs planned. \n\n\n\n\n“Cigar Box Scott wowed the crowd with his gritty\, soulful mastery of the cigar box guitar. He brought a raw\, rootsy energy that electrified the room!”\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n– Columbus Blues Alliance\, Columbus\, OH \nThe Columbus Blues Alliance (CBA) is a non-profit organization founded to help preserve and nurture blues music and is an affiliate of the Blues Foundation in Memphis. They are an ALL-volunteer corporation depending on the generosity and charity of members to donate their time and energy towards providing programs to support musicians. \nRESERVATIONS are strongly encouraged for our FREE Happening Hour Shows!

SUMMARY:Josh Hill Trio - CANCELED
DESCRIPTION:This event has been canceled. \nThe Josh Hill Trio is Josh on guitar\, Dave DeWitt on acoustic Bass and Louis Tsamous on Drums. \nJoshua Hill hails from the proverbial ‘one stoplight’ town in the Southeastern Ohio village known as Lewisville-population 176. Joshua started playing guitar at age 13 and was immediately enamored with the sounds of Led Zeppelin\, The Eagles\, Stevie Ray Vaughan and particularly anything that was injected with the blues tradition laid down by masters such as B.B. King\, Robert Johnson and Albert King. At the same time studying classical guitar from a teacher over an hour away in St. Clairsville\, Josh became versed in the music of Fernando Sor\, Francisco Terrega and Andres Segovia. In 2001 Joshua was awarded the first guitar performance scholarship at West Virginia University. This was his first encounter of bebop and modern jazz stylings and would ultimately be a life changing experience that led to the attendance of The Ohio State University in 2003. There Joshua was awarded two performance scholarships\, and met many of the musicians he currently plays with in and around the Columbus\, Ohio area. \nRESERVATIONS + Tips are strongly encouraged for our free Happy Hour Shows!

SUMMARY:Graveyard Pete & The New Appalachian Sound
DESCRIPTION:With captivating stories and an award winning blend of folk\, rock\, blues\, and Appalachian roots music\, Graveyard Pete & The New Appalachian Sound is reshaping central Ohio’s music culture one stage at a time. \nThe pieces of melody and poetry that came to Aaron DeYarmon while he worked the midnight shift on long hauls took shape when he began playing his songs live with fellow driver Michael Ulery. As they honed their sound at every coffee shop and bar that would take a chance on their unique style\, a growing network of collaborators added new flavors to the evolving songs–upright bass\, percussion\, banjo\, mandolin\, and\, most importantly\, the sweet soulful vocal harmonies of Carlie Quillin. With the addition of Will Christoffersen on electric lead and Lynde Wangler on violin\, the band’s sound took its final form on the stages of central Ohio as a high energy brand of folk-rock with deep roots in the stories and Appalachian music that formed the core of the original duo. \nThe band’s studio releases have been nationally recognized by the International Singer-Songwriters Association\, the World Songwriting Awards\, and the Who’s Hoo Country Music Awards. Following a series of singles\, they released their debut album “Castles in the Sand” in June 2025. The album is currently under Grammy® consideration for Best Folk Album\, and one of the album’s singles\, “Dead on the Ground\,” has been nominated by the Josie Music Awards for Best Folk Song of the Year. \n\nThe Columbus Blues Alliance (CBA) is a non-profit organization founded to help preserve and nurture blues music and is an affiliate of the Blues Foundation in Memphis. They are an ALL-volunteer corporation depending on the generosity and charity of members to donate their time and energy towards providing programs to support musicians. \nThursday Happening Hour shows are sponsored by our proud partners Bank of America. \nRESERVATIONS are strongly encouraged for our FREE Happening Hour Shows!

SUMMARY:Colin Gawel CG2
DESCRIPTION:About Colin Gawel… \n“I wrote my first song on the back of a paper route book in 6th grade.” – Colin Gawel \nSoon after\, while seeing a Cheap Trick concert\, I convinced my pal Joe Oestreich that we should start a band and get signed to Epic Records. Just like Cheap Trick did. Watershed was born at that moment of the bus ride home from the show. Once we learned how to play\, we did get signed to Epic Records and do damn near every single thing a rock n roll band can do. Except have a hit song. It’s quite a tale.   \nIn fact\, you can read all about it in the best selling memoir “Hitless Wonder- A Life in Minor League Rock n Roll” which was released in 2012 and National Public Radio called it one of the two best books of the summer. It rose to #1 on the Amazon music book charts. (!) As of 2022\, Watershed is still recording and playing shows. \n In the meantime\, I also record and perform as a solo artist. Superior- The Best of Colin Gawel is 17 seventeen song compilation of that work. And in 2018 I released the League Bowlers Some Balls Deluxe. The Bowlers play bottom shelf versions of top shelf rock n roll\, both originals and tasty bar room versions of the classics. (Cheap Trick\, CCR\, Petty\, Bruce\, Neil Young and so on and so forth.. ) \nThursday Happening Hour shows are sponsored by our proud partners Bank of America. \nRESERVATIONS are strongly encouraged for our FREE Happening Hour Shows!
