The Soul Sunday series hosted by Debra James Tucker continues at Natalie’s Grandview with a December residency starring Jermaine Smith and Vamp Village Band. This show will also feature the talents of Anthony Saxson and Demeeshia Marshall.
Jermaine Smith is an accomplished executive producer, visionary, and entrepreneur with a deep passion for music, entertainment, and creating unforgettable live experiences. Driven by his love for live music and his desire to support local talent, Jermaine’s work is marked by a dedication to fostering community and showcasing artistry at its finest.
Anthony Saxson was always surrounded by music and his first calling was through his family Church, founded by his grandfather Rev. Dr. William E. Binford, an anointed musician who was revered for his powerful singing and organ playing. Today, Anthony channels his music through these spiritual roots, as well as the roots of John Coltrane, Pharaoh Sanders and others. His aim is to achieve his calling through musical expression, touching the world, one person at a time.
DeMeeshia Marshall graduated with a BM in Vocal Music performance at The Ohio State University where she studied classical, opera music. She is also skilled in other genres such as jazz, gospel, musical theatre, and has performed live on TV stations such as The Word Network multiple times. In 2016 she was crowned the Voice of Columbus and aired on NBC 4 news.
The unique sound of vocalist Debra James Tucker is a product of extensive training in jazz, classical and gospel music. Her new album is “Voices”, which continues her exploration of early black church forms in contemporary contexts. She is the writer/performer of the one woman show Survival of the Boulevard Singer-winner of an Ohio Arts Council Award for Individual Excellence, has been a visiting instructor at Denison University in the history of African American Gospel Music, and an artist in residence with several youth arts organizations.
