SUMMARY:Robbie Fulks
DESCRIPTION:Robbie Fulks is a singer\, recording artist\, instrumentalist\, composer\, and songwriter. His current release\, Bluegrass Vacation on Compass Records\, returns him to his bluegrass roots\, with a large group of masterful musicians including Sam Bush\, Jerry Douglas\, Justin Moses\, Ronnie McCoury\, Alison Brown\, David Grier\, Tim O’Brien\, Todd Phillips\, John Cowan\, Brennen Leigh\, Randy Kohrs\, Sierra Hull\, Stuart Duncan\, Shad Cobb\, and Chris Eldridge. Across 11 new original songs (and one freewheeling interpretation of the Delmore Brothers)\, Robbie covers themes like small-town blues\, the endurance of childhood memory\, inebriation\, love\, divorce\, the role of music in strengthening family bonds\, losing a loved one to Alzheimer’s\, and bluegrass itself. \nHis most recent release\, 2017’s Upland Stories\, earned year’s-best recognition from NPR and Rolling Stone among many others\, as well as two Grammy® nominations\, for folk album and American roots song (“Alabama At Night”). \nFulks was born in York\, Pennsylvania\, and grew up in a half-dozen small towns in southeast Pennsylvania\, the North Carolina Piedmont\, and the Blue Ridge area of Virginia. He learned guitar from his dad\, banjo from Earl Scruggs and John Hartford records. He attended Columbia College in New York City. \nIn 1983 he moved to Chicago and joined Greg Cahill’s Special Consensus Bluegrass Band. He taught music at Old Town School of Folk Music from 1984 to 1996\, and worked as a staff songwriter on Music Row in Nashville from 1993 to 1998. \nHis early solo work — Country Love Songs (1996) and South Mouth (1997) — helped define the “alternative country” movement of the 1990s. For most of the present century\, Robbie has been playing acoustic music through microphones\, which lets him give more attention to his flatpicking and banjo playing\, and complements his more sepia-toned subject matter — the slings of time\, the troubles of common people. His repertory of traveling players includes folks like Shad Cobb\, Missy Raines\, Robbie Gjersoe\, Jenny Scheinman\, Matt Flinner\, Don Stiernberg\, and Jesse Cobb. However\, two non-acoustic recent side projects are his 2018 duo record with Linda Gail Lewis\, Wild! Wild! Wild!\, an NPR favorite which leans to rock-and-roll and classic country-and-western\, and his double-vinyl reinterpretation of the Bob Dylan record Street-Legal\, which is titled 16\, is musically unbounded and is no one’s favorite. \nRadio: multiple appearances on WSM’s “Grand Ole Opry”; PRI’s “Whadd’ya Know”; NPR’s “Fresh Air\,” “Mountain Stage\,” and “World Cafe”; and the syndicated “Acoustic Cafe” and “Laura Ingraham Show.” TV: PBS’s Austin City Limits; NBC’s Today\, Late Night with Conan O’Brien\, Later with Carson Daly\, and 30 Rock. From 2004 to 2008 he hosted an hourlong performance/interview program for XM satellite radio\, “Robbie’s Secret Country.” Artists who have covered his songs include Sam Bush\, Kelly Hogan\, Andrew Bird\, Mollie O’Brien\, Rosie Flores\, John Cowan\, and Old 97s. \nRobbie’s writing on music and life have appeared in GQ\, Blender\, the Chicago Reader\, DaCapo Press’s Best Music Writing anthologies for 2001 and 2004\, Amplified: Fiction from Leading Alt-Country\, Indie Rock\, Blues and Folk Musicians\, and A Guitar and A Pen: Stories by Country Music’s Greatest Songwriters. As an instrumentalist\, he has accompanied the Irish fiddle master Liz Carroll\, the distinguished jazz violinist Jenny Scheinman\, and the New Orleans pianist Dr. John. As a producer his credits include Touch My Heart: A Tribute to Johnny Paycheck (Sugar Hill\, 2004) and Big Thinkin’ by Dallas Wayne (Hightone\, 2000). Theatrical credits include “Woody Guthrie’s American Song” and Harry Chapin’s “Cottonpatch Gospel.” He served twice as judge for the Winfield National Flatpicking Guitar competition. He tours yearlong with various configurations. \nBesides country and bluegrass music\, Robbie is fiercely fond of Charles Mingus\, P.G. Wodehouse\, quantum mechanics\, his wife Donna\, comedy in almost all forms\, cooking\, swimming laps\, the past\, Arthur Schopenhauer\, Universal horror movies\, his grandson and even his sons\, coastal towns in the off-season\, and rye whiskey\, though in nothing like that order. \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

SUMMARY:Long Journey Home: The Red Mountain String Band 50th Anniversary Concert - SOLD OUT!
DESCRIPTION:Red Mountain String Band. the pioneering Americana group that was a mainstay of the mid-‘70s Columbus scene\, returns to its hometown for a very special reunion concert at Natalie’s. It will be the first time the six musicians from the band’s signature lineup – Lisa Hogan\, vocals; Rick Levin\, guitar and vocals; Pete Remenyi\, harmonica\, dobro and vocals; Crystal Reeves\, fiddle and vocals; Gary Hopkins\, banjo; and Larry Nager\, mandolin and Triple Washboard – will share a stage since the band’s 1976 breakup. \nWith its eclectic\, high-energy mix of acoustic bluegrass\, blues and jugband music\, Red Mountain earned a reputation for always bringing the party. They scoured obscure old records for neglected songs\, but Red Mountain was no dusty academic exercise. It was the age of “wooden music” when\, thanks to soon-to be classic records like The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s Will The Circle Be Unbroken and the Deliverance soundtrack\, bluegrass and other roots music found a new audience of long-haired kids joining the Appalachian migrants who’d made their way north for factory jobs. In that\, Ohio resembled Austin’s Cosmic Cowboy scene\, but with a bluegrass twist\, as hippies and rednecks came together over a love of that High Lonesome Sound. \nRed Mountain quickly drew a broad and sizable following\, starting with their first gig in 1974 at Larry’s on High Street\, a famed hipster dive where Phil Ochs played during his time in Columbus. They were soon performing all over the thriving Columbus bar scene\, packing such venues as the Moonshine Co-Op\, Mr. Brown’s Descent\, Ruby Tuesday’s and the club that became its home base\, The 5th String. They opened for The Earl Scruggs Revue at The Agora\, performed on The Country Cavalcade radio show\, played the Ohio Reformatory For Women in Marysville and at such legendary “Industrial Strength Bluegrass” old-school bars as Sam’s Bar & Grill in Dayton\, Aunt Maudie’s in Cincinnati and Dick’s Cafe in Springfield. They toured throughout the Midwest\, even in Buckeye enemy territory in Ann Arbor\, Michigan\, regularly selling out Mr. Flood’s Party\, where\, one memorable night\, their audience included John Prine and Steve Goodman. \nA bluegrass band in instrumentation\, they tackled evergreens like Bill Monroe’s “On & On” and songs by the Stanley Brothers\, Flatt & Scruggs and Dayton’s own Red Allen. But they could turn on a dime\, morphing into a Delta stringband\, powered by Lisa Hogan’s deep blues vocals\, Pete Remenyi’s wailing harp and the scorching fiddle of Crystal Reeves. Rick Levin\, adept at both blues fingerpicking and bluegrass flatpicking\, kept the show moving with his trademark sardonic humor\, while Gary Hopkins’ banjo drove like a runaway train on the bluegrass breakdowns\, then trucked on down to New Orleans for some down-home blues. On mandolin\, Larry Nager channeled his inner Bill Monroe\, tossing in Yank Rachell country blues licks as the mood demanded. But he’s best-known for his unique Triple Washboard\, shredding jugband material like “Take Me To That Land of Jazz” and “Blues My Naughty Sweetie Gives to Me.” The band’s manic eclecticism kept things fresh and exciting\, and even audiences unfamiliar with the roots of all that music responded to the energy and passion of these  young musicians. \nAnd though the original band stopped in the fall of 1976\, the music never did. After Red Mountain\, Lisa sang in rock bands while attending med school\, and today\, Dr. Hogan practices integrative/functional medicine in Raleigh\, N.C.\, and sings at therapeutic sound baths. Gary played upright bass and tuba with the Hotmud Family and the Rugcutters\, and now uses music in his ministry\, working with inmates of the Ohio prison system and at churches in Southeast Ohio. Crystal played in the popular Columbus bands\, Blackjack\, Josie Wales Band and the DeMarco Bros. and is now based in Oregon\, playing rock with Blue Lightning and The California Renegade Rock Orchestra. \nPete\, Rick and Larry kept Red Mountain going until 1978\, when they formed 5 Guys Named Moe with Bill Kerwin and Steve Diffenderfer. Larry left after a few months to join The Katie Laur Band in Cincinnati and later played with some of Ohio’s premier roots musicians\, including Bluegrass Hall of Famer Red Allen\, his son Harley and Frank Wakefield\, as well as boogie woogie piano master Big Joe Duskin and King Records session drummer Phillip Paul. Since 1988\, he has performed with NCTA Master of the 5 String Banjo Tony Ellis and his son William Lee Ellis\, including opening the original Natalie’s in 2012. Larry moved to Kauai in 2018\, where he plays bluegrass as well as Hawaiian music. Rick lives in Northern California\, where he fronts the Americana band he co-founded in 2008\, Cadillac Ranch. Pete remains one of Columbus’ busiest musicians\, formerly playing bluegrass with the nationally known One Riot One Ranger and regional favorite Death By Banjo. Pete currently plays with The Wood Pickers and electric blues band Nightwalker. \nSo\, don’t miss this special evening when the six members of Red Mountain String Band will make their long journey home\, spanning half a century and thousands of miles to try to summon up some of that old magic one more time. \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

I’m excited to be playing in The Third Mind’s live touring line-up.” – Mark Karan \nIt was clear then that these shows were not to be missed\, and needed to be recorded and released! SUMMARY:Unseen Keys + Yacobucci
DESCRIPTION:Unseen Keys is an indie/alternative/rock band hailing from Columbus\, Ohio. With influences like Nothing But Thieves\, Badflower\, and Starset\, they quickly began gaining traction with their debut single By A Thread after getting their start in July of 2022. Members include frontman Miles Harris\, lead guitarist Andrew DeCord\, rhythm guitarist Jakob Borgerding\, and bassist Nate Pack. \n  \n \nCamden Yacobucci is an American musician born and raised in Akron\, Ohio but currently based in Columbus\, OH. He started recording his own music by the age of 17 and released his first mixtape “Strong Static”. Camden says he was always so inspired when it came to music. He couldn’t just listen to it\, he needed to create it. He started with mainly rap but then started blending his creativity and unique style with many other genres such as alternative pop\, pop/punk etc. Camden now performs\, as well as writes most of his music with a full band and they bring an electric show to every venue they play at. In high school he joined the marching band and played the trombone. Camden could never really get into the songs being played so that’s when he ended up getting some cheap studio equipment and started learning how to make his own. Soon after\, Camden moved to Brooklyn New York to study Criminal Justice at St. Francis College. After many classes\, he would go perform and record new music in his dorm room. Camden felt like an outcast at school and didn’t really talk to anyone. He often spent his time street performing in front of thousands of strangers in places like Times Square\, underground subways\, The Brooklyn Bridge\, etc. This got his stage presence better and better and he soon started performing in small venues. After deciding to drop out of college after his first semester in 2018\, Camden found himself in Los Angeles with a goal to take his career to the next level. Camden pushes himself everyday to make the best music possible and never looks at quitting as an option. With this mindset he soon could see progress in his music career. \n \nJade Million is a self-proclaimed Southern artist with “northern roots” known for her experimental production\, raw lyrics\, and raspy vocals. Her music represents self-discovery and embracing individuality\, inspired by the struggles she’s overcome. \n \nBarely trev hailing from Minnesota\, plays songs for all seasons. \nFood & Bar: Our full bar and limited food options will be available before and during the show.
