SUMMARY:Webb Wilder and the Beatnecks (Postponed)
DESCRIPTION:Webb Wilder & the Beatnecks have been cranking out their own kind of Southern rock and roll for the USA and the world since 1985. They return to Natalie’s to celebrate the release of their latest record “Night Without Love\,” the follow-up to the band’s previously unreleased\, vintage tracks contained on the album Powerful Stuff!\, a potent mixture of roots-rock\, Americana\, blues\, and British influences Webb Wilder is an evangelist for real rock ‘n’ roll. \nAs a singer\, guitarist\, bandleader\, film actor\, songwriter and humorist\, he may be roots-rock’ss only true renaissance man. Garage rock and bluster blues; fuzz tone and fury\, and in many ways\, a full and unbroken circle back to the days when Webb Wilder was a Mississippi boy possessed of the mind of a full-grown man\, listening to first Elvis and Rick Nelson\, then the Beatles\, the Byrds\, the Stones\, the Kinks\, the Animals\, Buffalo Springfield\, the Faces\, Badfinger\, the Move\, Free\, the Band\, B.B. King\, and so many others.

SUMMARY:Charlie Hunter and Lucy Woodward (Postponed)
DESCRIPTION:Charlie Hunter and Lucy Woodward return to Natalie’s to celebrate the release of their brand new album that is a follow-up to their critically-acclaimed debut Music! Music! Music! from 2019. Hunter and Woodward are known for excelling in different genres\, yet the two veteran musicians have been running in similar circles before pairing up for touring in 2018. \nWith a career spanning 16 years and almost 20 albums\, virtuoso guitarist Charlie Hunter has worked with the likes of Norah Jones\, Mos Def\, John Mayer\, and D’Angelo. He is widely considered the authority on the seven- and eight-string guitar\, and continues to stun audiences with his ability to simultaneously bust out tasty bass parts\, melodic leads\, and swinging rhythms. \nLucy Woodward made her major label debut in 2003. She has since recorded and toured with Rod Stewart\, Snarky Puppy\, Barbra Streisand\, Celine Dion\, Pink Martini\, Chaka Khan\, and Carole King\, releasing three more albums along the way. Her latest studio effort was 2016’s Til They Bang On The Door\, released on the Snarky Puppy-owned GroundUP Music. \nAs for what to expect live from Hunter and Woodward\, the two will be rounded out by a drummer and be performing pocket-heavy renditions of vintage blues and classic pop covers of Nina Simone\, The Animals\, Bessie Smith\, and Terence Trent D’Arby included.

SUMMARY:Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound (Postponed)
DESCRIPTION:Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound bring forth a funky\, lyrically charged racket that is explosive\, yet intimate. Taking cues from the dance bands of western Louisiana and his native Midwest\, the streets and records of New Orleans\, touring African and Caribbean combos and the soul\, funk\, and blues of his youth\, Paul Cebar is a masterful synthesist of rhythmic culture. His time spent in his second home of New Orleans\, as a musicologist in Florida\, and as a journeyman wanderer in Cuba\, is reflected in his musical worldview. \nAt the core is gifted songwriting\, and the company Paul keeps bears it out: Bonnie Raitt\, Nick Lowe\, Chris Smither\, John Hiatt\, and Cesar Rosas are among his friends and admirers. \nTomorrow Sound are an elite crew. Drummer Reggie Bordeaux\, New Orleans native percussionist Mac Perkins\, and bassist Mike Fredrickson\, throw down some of the best dance grooves in the business. Multi-instrumentalist Bob Jennings adds the luxury of implying a much larger ensemble with his multi-hued contributions on keys and reeds. Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound’s latest album\, Fine Rude Thing\, features Cebar’s unique mixture of r&b\, Caribbean\, and New Orleans styles.

SUMMARY:SHEL\, with special guest Emma Charles (Postponed)
DESCRIPTION:When the gatekeepers of the music world tried to contain the superpowers of four creative sisters…walls fell. Tossing away the assembly-line process and embracing the freedom of the unknown\, SHEL is slated to release a brand new EP in early 2020\, Wild Child\, produced with Joey Verskotzi and Tim Myers (previously of OneRepublic). Songs about liberation from fear\, embracing uniqueness and celebrating it\, about the inner wild that calls us to climb trees and touch stars\, to unite in love amidst the storm\, to follow the unknown road\, and finally\, to come home to the warm embrace of family. \nSHEL has extensive touring history across the U.S. and Europe\, playing everything from club shows to major festivals\, and even sharing the stage with world-renowned orchestras and Amos Lee. SHEL’s songs can also be heard in numerous films\, TV shows\, and commercials including “The Best of Me\,” “Queen America” (Facebook Watch)\, “The Fourth Phase\,” “Charged\,” the trailer for “Women In Sports\,” “Shameless (Showtime)\,” “The Fosters” (Freeform)\, “Riverdale” (Netflix)\, “Search Party” (TBS)\, and many more. In the studio\, the sisters have collaborated with the likes of producer Brent Maher (Ike and Tina Turner\, The Judds) as well as visionary sound guru Dave Stewart (The Eurythmics). \n“There’s a code of love that preserves our purpose.” Says Eva\, lead singer and mandolin player of SHEL.You can feel this code in the colorful sound and imagery of the band’s newest collection\, starting with “Rainbow\,” a soft\, but powerful anthem inviting us to embrace unity in the midst of fear. \n  \n \nIt’s said the best singers wear their hearts on their sleeves\, and this is certainly true of 21-year old folk-pop savant Emma Charles. Blending acoustic Americana vibes with savvy electronica soundscapes\, Emma’s voice is a compelling vehicle for her lyrical tapestry of heartbreak and hope. She spent much of last year on national tours with Howie Day and Tyler Hilton\, announcing herself as the act to watch\, and continues to build her performance portfolio throughout 2020\, most recently with her EP release headlining show at The Hotel Café.

SUMMARY:The Iguanas (Postponed)
DESCRIPTION:Based out of New Orleans for the past couple of decades\, the Iguanas define a sound of Americana that crosses cultures\, styles\, eras…and even languages. Combine the Franco Acadian inflections of Canada (as best exemplified by the accordion)\, blues and jazz\, (the only truly indigenous music the U.S. has ever produced)\, and the lilting grace and fiery passion of the music of Mexico\, and you’d have New Orleans’ premiere distillers of this continental musical melange\, The Iguanas. Collectively or individually\, the members of the Iguanas have played or recorded with everyone from Charlie Rich\, Alex Chilton\, and Willy DeVille to Emmylou Harris\, Allen Toussaint\, and Pretty Lights. \nTheir two decade ride has taken them all over the map musically and geographically\, yet the inescapable patina of their hometown infuses every note they play. Through eight studio albums\, countless tours and Jazz Fest appearances\, and a flood that did its best to take their adopted city with it\, it’s a testament to the band’s endurance that the same four guys that started playing in the early 1990s are still together. Joe Cabral is philosophical about the band’s persistence in the face of challenges that would have felled lesser bands. “First of all\, this is all we know how to do; we’re musicians. But more than that\, we respect the power of the band as an entity\, and each individual in the band steps up to play his part. When it’s good\, that’s really what it’s all about.” \nRod Hodges agrees. “I don’t want to get all heady and mystical about this\, but it’s not really an outward reward we’re looking for. We all enjoy playing music\, we all get along\, and finding a group of people who can say that after all this time is a rare thing.”

SUMMARY:Mistar Anderson (Early Show)
DESCRIPTION:Freedom\, sharing\, gratitude\, and love – these are just a few of the elements you’ll discover in the melodic messages from Mistar Anderson. Homegrown in Columbus\, Ohio\, the ensemble harnesses the power of live instrument hip-hop to infiltrate the ears and minds of the masses. \nFounding members Eric Rollin (vocals) and Andre Walker (drums) first met through the Columbus music scene and began collaborating in 2013. Their mutual appreciation of jazz composition inspired their creative direction\, and if you listen carefully\, you might catch an occasional transcribed sample from Miles Davis\, Grover Washington\, or Herbie Hancock. \nMistar Anderson began as a quartet consisting of vocals\, drums\, keyboard\, and bass\, however\, they continued to experiment and expand their multi-dimensional sound with additions of guitar\, trumpet\, trombone\, saxophone\, and flute. Eventually\, the jazz samples evolved into songs\, then those songs came together to become their first self-titled album. The album is a live voyage reminiscent of 90s golden-era hip-hop featuring ‘30s-40s big band samples\, and eloquent grooves that meander through nostalgic sounds of jazz\, soul\, and funk.

SUMMARY:Angela Perley
DESCRIPTION:Due to COVID-19\, tables will be sold instead of individual seats\, and guests are required to wear masks when not seated. \n“Angela Perley has been gigging nonstop with her band The Howlin’ Moons since they released their debut album in 2014\, laying down an interesting mix of folk\, Americana\, and ’60s-tinged psychedelic rock that floats seamlessly between Bob Dylan and Procol Harum\, sometimes within the same song.”— No Depression \nAll of this led up to Perley’s latest LP\, ‘4:30’ (released Aug. 2\, 2019)\, her first solo effort which she co-produced with longtime guitarist and collaborator\, Chris Connor. Her third full-length record illustrates the songwriter’s knack for deft storytelling\, warm vocal layers\, and disarming melodies that beget personal growth and mobility\, surging from raw and far-sighted pathos. \nBillboard says\, “The set’s 12 songs run the gamut from psychedelic garage rock to melodic pop and heartfelt country and Americana” and Perley’s character-driven love songs on ‘4:30’ are surreal in their ability to master genre-fluidity\, with forthright storytelling\, wry lyricism\, and a host of dreamy instrumentation. \nPerley has opened for Willie Nelson\, Lucinda Williams\, Tyler Childers\, CAAMP\, O.A.R and Blues Traveler\, and continues her musical journey one record and show at a time.

SUMMARY:Gospel Soul Series: Quan Howell (Postponed)
DESCRIPTION:This show has been postponed to a later date TBD\, and refunds will be issued to ticket holders. We regret any inconvenience. \nNatalie’s Grandview presents a new Gospel Soul Series\, hosted and coordinated by Debra James Tucker. This show features the talents of the outstanding vocalist/actor/leader Quan Howell. Quan spent his early years singing at local churches and with two local groups ‘The James Cleveland Youth Chapter’ and ‘The Allen Family.’ He received his first professional break-in 1995 as the new lead singer with the group\, ‘Sounds of Blackness’\, and they recorded several hit songs\, which opened up many opportunities for him to record and do background work with Ann Nesby\, Rod Stewart\, Johnny Gill\, New Edition\, Salt ‘n’ Pepa\, Kirk Franklin\, Tamela Mann\, and many other famous artists. Also\, he had the pleasure of recording movie soundtracks for\, ‘How Stella Got Her Groove Back\,’ ‘Down in the Delta\,’ ‘The Apostle’ and for Andrew Lloyd Weber and Walt Disney. \nIn the late 1990s\, Quan decided to pursue his other passion\, the theater. Well known author\, director\, and producer Tyler Perry gave Quan his first opportunity to play the character\, ‘Rev. Lewis’ in Perry’s first play\, ‘I Know I’ve Been Changed.’ Quan continued to play in Perry’s hit plays\, ‘I Can Do Bad All by Myself’ and ‘Madea’s Family Reunion. \nFollowing a three year break from the entertainment business and a recommitment of his life to the Lord\, Quan became more involved in his local assembly and became the Praise Leader for New Covenant Believers’ Church. He has made numerous television appearances on shows such as BET’s Sunday Best Season 6\, Lifetime Network reality show “Preach”\, TBN’s Praise The Lord and World Harvest’s 120 Live with Pastor Rod Parsley. So many opportunities that have come and Quan still has the energy and excitement to finish what God has allowed him to do. \nThe unique sound of vocalist Debra James Tucker is a product of extensive training in jazz\, classical\, and gospel music. She is the writer/performer of the one-woman show Survival of the Boulevard Singer—winner of an Ohio Arts Council Award for Individual Excellence\, has been visiting instructor at Denison University in the history of African American Gospel Music\, and an artist in residence with a number of youth arts organizations. \nThis new ongoing series will temporarily replace the monthly Gospel Soul Brunch shows at Natalie’s Worthington\, which has been postponed due to the Covid-19 crisis.
