SUMMARY:Wonderful: A Tribute to Stevie Wonder
DESCRIPTION:Stevland Hardaway Judkins\, known in the world of music as Stevie Wonder\, is a singer\, producer\, and composer of genres such as Soul\, R & B\, funk\, and jazz. Blind virtually since birth\, Wonder’s heightened awareness of sound helped him create vibrant\, colorful music teeming with life and ambition. \nStevie Wonder has influenced and inspired us all over the last sixty years! Join us as we pay tribute to the living legend through song on this\, his birthday weekend. \nVocalists Talisha Holmes\, Paisha Thomas\, Dre Peace\, Monique “Maverick” Mitchell and Jamalia Jackson along with instrumental musicians Brandon “BJazz” Scott\, Mike Ealy\, Jeffro Jam and Rob Riley\, will be performing some of their favorite classics and B-side cuts. \nPaisha Thomas’ performances seek to inform and inspire. To ask the question – When will we overcome? And present a call to action to the audience\, bringing them into the movement. \nMarquisa (Monique) Mitchell or “Maverick” is an accomplished Background Singer and Vocal Coach\, born and raised in Gary\, Indiana\, with over 35 years experience of live performing and session singing. Her commanding\, soulful vocals along with the uncanny ability to mimic\, makes her a versatile songstress\, able to adapt to any genre and project. \nHis name is Dre Peace. He’s from Trotwood\, Ohio. He creates environments with his voice. \nNo matter who is on the bandstand\, Talisha Holmes is known for giving both an energetic and intimate show. Talisha specializes in an eclectic fusion of jazz\, soul\, pop\, folk\, electro and rock. \nJamalia Jackson is a vocalist with over twenty years of experience in multiple genres of music ranging in gospel\, choral\, reggae\, rhythm and blues\, soul\, and pop. Similarly to her musical range\, Jamalia has been influenced by a broad depth of talent from her youth in Warren\, Ohio to her evolution as a background vocalist in Columbus\, Ohio. \nRob Riley is a Chameleon of the groove. As a drummer\, his professional career spans over 30 years playing gospel\, rock\, hip hop\, jazz\, and also 20 plus years in music production. Rob has proven time and time again to be the foundation of many groups. \nThough anyone can see the passion in his face behind the keys\, Brandon “B Jazz” Scott is more than your average piano man. The writer/producer/musician is a perfect storm of creativity\, simplicity and eagerness that has some of the biggest names in Soul music buzzing about his unique sound. \nFor decades\, Jeffro Jam has been known for always “bringing that vibe “ with his Moog synthesizers and unique vocal flare on the talkbox. From colorful textures to Funk-Face grooves\, Jeffro embraces all energies with every given platform. \nSince being forced as a young lad to play a fretless bass (the closest thing he had to his then-true love\, the guitar)\, Mike Ealy has always added a unique tilt in his approach to the instrument. Influenced by a vanguard of innovators such as Victor Wooten and Matthew Garrison\, Mike’s propensity for harmonic expansion over the foundational root of the instrument provides a unique landscape for the listeners’ journey\, no matter the piece\, familiar or new. \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

SUMMARY:Jay Nash and Dan Rodriguez
DESCRIPTION:A great double lineup on Charlie’s Stage featuring performances by singer songwriters Jay Nash and Dan Rodriguez! \nJay Nash \n“It’s a bit of a paradox.  I still feel like an up-and-coming singer-songwriter\, with my most exciting days just in front of me.  It’s funny because I have been writing songs and singing for my supper for almost 25 years…crazy how time flies when you are having fun.  Still\, I am as excited as ever for the next song\, the next record\, and the next gig.” – JN \nOver the span of his self-described\, ‘under the radar’ career\, Jay Nash’s rough-hewn voice\, poignant melodies\, and unique yet subtly virtuosic approach to the guitar have taken him across the United States and Europe more times than he can count.  He has released seven full-length solo albums\, and four solo EPs along with another ten albums with his collaborative efforts with TFDI\, The Contenders\, Garrison Starr\, and Caitlin Crosby..racking up 10s of millions of streams and selling over 70\,000 records.  In his time off the road\, where he’s racked up thousands of live performances\, Nash has created the original motion picture score for three feature films\, a Dutch television series\, and dozens of nationally run commercial spots. \nDan Rodriguez \nHi\, I’m Dan. I’m a whiskey & beer drinking\, fishing & hunting loving\, motorcycle riding\, quality food eating\, hippie sympathizing\, hobby farm running\, people loving\, husband & father who lives in Minneapolis and shares a life with my amazing wife and two adorable sons named Oak and Alder. I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit\, MI\, and moved to Minneapolis when I was 18 to study music\, and I stayed because I’m one of those crazy people that enjoys the snow and cold weather. \nSongwriting\, and performing those songs for people\, is both my trade and my passion. When I’m not in my studio writing and cutting records\, or on the road playing shows\, I’m usually playing in the woods with our boys\, tending to our backyard chickens\, eating fresh veggies from my wife’s huge garden\, making syrup from our maple grove\, or doing one of my many outdoor hobbies. \nNow here are a few things about my music career that I should probably share in a music bio: \n\nIn September 2014 Budweiser released their “Friends Are Waiting” commercial campaign featuring me singing my song When You Come Home and it premiered during both The World Series & The Super Bowl.\n\n\nIn February\, 2018\, I released my album 25 Years and the title track is now inching toward 1 million listens.\n\n\nIn October\, 2018\, Miller Lite featured my newest single “So Good” in one of their commercials that played for months during NFL games on ESPN & more.\n\n\nIn March\, 2019\, my song “You Feel Like Home” was featured in Explore Minnesota Tourism’s newest ad campaign.\n\n\nIn 2022 I released my album Troubadour Family Man. It’s my debut self-produced record and I couldn’t be more proud of it.\n\n\nOver the years I’ve had the honor of sharing the stage with some really cool artists & bands including The Civil Wars\, Andy Grammer\, Eric Hutchinson\, Matt Nathanson\, NeedtoBreathe\, Augustana\, Tyrone Wells\, O.A.R.\, Haley Reinhart\, Jon McLaughlin\, Will Hoge\, Drew Holcomb\, Sister Hazel\, and more\n\nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

SUMMARY:The PEER Center Sweet 16 Fundraiser with Priscilla Woodson
DESCRIPTION:May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Natalie’s Grandview is thrilled to host The PEER Center’s Sweet 16 Fundraiser and Concert. Learn about the PEER Center’s important ongoing work to educate and support those struggling with mental health and enjoy a special performance by Priscilla Woodson. Priscilla is an international performing artist  singer-songwriter with 7 albums\, mental health and wellness advocate\, life coach\, life skills professional developer\, Pastor\, and three times author. \nThe PEER (Peer’s Enriching Each others’ Recovery) Center began operations in January 2007 as a consumer-operated\, drop-in program for individuals living with mental illness and/or alcohol or other drug addiction\, located within a traditional mental health services agency. From the beginning\, it was intended to serve as a place where associates (members) could learn about their illness or addiction\, talk with others about their struggles and recovery\, and spend time with others who have “walked the walk” to improve their lives. The PEER Center continues that focus\, along with an effort to educate and support family members of individuals living with mental illness or drug / alcohol addiction. All staff at The PEER Center has lived experience of mental illness\, drug or alcohol addiction\, or trauma. In January 2010\, The PEER Center became an independent\, non-profit agency\, supported by its own Board of Directors\, the majority of whom are also persons with lived experience of mental illness\, addiction\, or trauma. On May 1\, 2011\, The PEER Center expanded operations to a second location. Our current primary source of funding is through a grant from The Alcohol Drug and Mental Health Board of Franklin County. \nWe will not be open during normal business hours for this show – ticket holders will be able to check in and the venue will open at the door time listed on this event page.  \nFood & Bar: Our full bar and a limited menu of pizza\, salads\, charcuterie\, and desserts will be available before and during the show.

SUMMARY:Jesse Terry and Alice Wallace
DESCRIPTION:Jesse Terry’s seventh album\, When We Wander\, is the first he wrote since becoming a parent. So\, it’s no surprise the family theme courses through many of its 12 songs. His music career has been a family project ever since he became a full-time touring artist a decade ago. The stage had been Jesse’s home for a decade. He plays around 150 shows a year\, from Bonnaroo to the Philadelphia Folk Festival\, the 30A Songwriters Festival to AmericanaFest. \n“It’s a song about taking the risk to do what you love\,” Alice Wallace says of the soaring track\, “The Blue\,” which yields a lyric entitling her spellbinding new album. With Into the Blue\, the singer-songwriter taps into the influence of her native California – conjuring the atmospheric sound of the Golden State’s canyons and deserts\, mountains and crashing waves\, its crowning beauty and its tragic losses. At the same time\, the supple-voiced Wallace tells her own and others’ stories\, weaving tales that resonate as we grapple with so many disturbing national issues. Into the Blue is Wallace’s fourth album but marks her debut on the brand-new Rebelle Road label\, an imprint founded by a trio of women dedicated to strengthening the California Country music community and expanding visibility for female artists in the Americana/roots genre. \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

SUMMARY:Angela Perley
DESCRIPTION:Angela Perley makes music for road trips across the American heartland. Rooted in cosmic alt-country\, roadhouse rock & roll\, witchy-woman psychedelia\, and amplified Americana\, it’s a vintage sound for the modern world\, glued together by a singer/songwriter who’s played everything from dive bars to arenas. \nWith Turn Me Loose\, she leans into the rootsy textures that have always underscored her music. Laced with pedal steel\, Telecaster twang\, and Gibson grit\, the album embraces the gray areas between genre and generation\, with Perley breathing new life into her 1960s and ’70s influences. Recorded in her native Ohio\, Turn Me Loose finds Perley building a dreamy world of her own\, writing sharply-detailed songs filled with small towns\, big cities\, and foggy nights pierced by her car’s high-beams. \n“Plug me in\, turn me loose\,” she sings during the album’s opening track\, which unfolds like a mission statement from a road warrior who’s hungry to hit the highway again. Turn Me Loose hits cruising speed with “Star Dreamer\,” whose chorus of sha la la la‘s nods to the kaleidoscopic swoon of the British Invasion\, then reaches a gallop with “Ripple\,” a country-western track that trades Perley’s midwestern roots for southern stomp. “Here For You” is a personal pep talk — a love song to oneself\, peppered with greasy\, Rolling Stones-worthy guitar — while “Praying For Daylight” and “Wreck Me” conjure up images of Texas dance halls at closing time\, when the dust from the floorboards turn slow circles in the stage lights. Together\, these songs turn Turn Me Loose into a soundtrack for the road less traveled\, with Perley behind the wheel. \nBefore she shared shows with heavyweights like Willie Nelson and Lucinda Williams\, Perley launched her career as the frontwoman of Angela Perley and the Howlin’ Moons. The group debuted with 2014’s Hey Kid — an underground hit not only in America\, but also overseas\, where the album peaked at Number 6 on the EuroAmericana chart — and returned with 2016’s Homemade Vision\, whose lead single “Electric Flame” became an FM radio hit. Perley continued the momentum with 4:30\, her debut as a solo artist. Produced by pedal steel guitarist Brandon Bankes\, Turn Me Loose marks the continuation of that acclaimed solo career\, featuring contributions from her Howlin’ Moons bandmate\, Chris Connor\, as well as a new band of road-worn roots-rockers. \nPraised by No Depression for “laying down an interesting mix of folk\, Americana\, and ’60s-tinged psychedelic rock that floats seamlessly between Bob Dylan and Procol Harum\, sometimes within the same song\,” Angela Perley has spent a decade building her audience the old-school way. She’s a tireless traveler chasing down her own horizon\, steadily graduating from local gigs in her hometown of Columbus\, Ohio\, to national shows alongside bands like Caamp. She’s a modern-day gypsy in platform boots. A tireless songwriter bringing the gap between personal insight and universal sentiment. And with her newest album\, she’s at the top of her game\, turning the highs and lows of an adulthood logged on the road into an album built for speed. \nTurn her loose\, indeed. \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show. If you have Standing General Admission tickets\, a limited menu of pizza and fries will be available to order from the bar.

SUMMARY:Tim Easton Album Release Concert
DESCRIPTION:Troubadour Tim Easton returns to Natalie’s to celebrate the release of his most recent release—a twenty song double LP entitled  NORTH AMERICAN SONGWRITER VOL 1 & 2. \nA mainstay of American roots music for more than 20 years\, Tim Easton crafts songs that blur the lines between folk\, blues\, and workingman’s rock & roll. \nIt’s an honest sound influenced not only by the flat-pickers and folk singers who came before him\, but also the arc of Easton’s own experience. Born within a stone’s throw of the Niagara River\, he spent his childhood in upstate New York and midwestern Ohio\, raised on the sounds of trailblazers like Doc Watson and Woody Guthrie. Following in his heroes’ footsteps\, he grew into a modern-day troubadour\, busking his way around Europe for the better part of a decade before heading back home to America. Although he eventually settled in East Nashville\, his touring schedule continued to take him across much of the world\, from barroom gigs in rural Alaska to festival appearances in Russia. \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

DESCRIPTION:“This is an utterly original mélange of all the music that we have enjoyed for around 80 years. It is also compelling as all get-out.”–Blues Matters UK \nLike many blues and soul vocalists of note\, Deb Landolt cultivated her soul/gospel honey-dipped voice in church as a child. SUMMARY:Dave Buker and the Historians - Heirlooms Album Release
DESCRIPTION:Dave Buker and the Historians \nBased in Columbus\, OH\, Dave Buker and the Historians have been spreading their brand of Americana since 2010. In 2019\, the band released a third full-length album\, It Moves in the Dark\, and followed it with 2020’s Costumes EP\, a collection of cover songs recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic. \nAfter performing at 2017’s Bunbury Music Festival\, which also featured Death Cab For Cutie and The Shins\, they won CD92.9FM’s Local Artist Contest and opened for Spoon\, Alvvays\, and The Aces – and have subsequently had several headlining performances presented by both CD92.9 and WCBE 90.5FM. \nDave Buker and the Historians have twice been showcased by WOSU-TV’s Broad & High (and subsequently by PBS affiliates across the United States)\, were featured by American Songwriter magazine\, and were highlighted by Chicago’s Off-Kilter magazine. They have been interviewed by The Columbus Dispatch\, Columbus Alive\, and 91.7FM WNJR (Pittsburgh\, PA). \nIn October 2022\, Dave Buker and the Historians released “Stubborn Blood”\, the first single from Heirlooms\, a new album to be released in June 2023. The album was produced through support from the Greater Columbus Arts Council. \n \nWiloh \nIntertwining vocals and unique guitar melodies combine to create the spellbinding sound of folk/americana duo\, Wiloh (Will-oh). At times haunting and at times playful\, the pair weave together stories we all share of love\, grief\, resilience and human connection. \nTaking advantage of the vocal blend that was perfected by years of performing together in various bands\, Jordan Millisor and Emily Syring started writing and creating together in 2020. A couple years later they holed themselves up in a cabin in Hocking Hills with producer Jeff Martin to create what would be their first EP “Falling” released in November of 2022. \n“The ability to see ourselves in other people and to imagine ourselves in their situation is a beautiful part of the human experience\, and it is something we wanted to capture with this project. Some of our songs come from our lives\, some from others\, but at the root of them are emotions that we all share. We wanted to be honest\, and with that honesty\, show people that they are not alone.” \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show. If you have Standing General Admission tickets\, a limited menu of pizza and fries will be available to order from the bar. If you would like to eat before the show we encourage you to make a dinner reservation by clicking the Resy button below. \nBook your Natalie’s Grandview reservation on Resy

SUMMARY:Damien Jurado w/ Chris Pureka - SOLD OUT!
DESCRIPTION:“Play on\, there’s no such thing as better days\,” Damien Jurado sings on “Roger\,” the sweeping wash of a song that opens Reggae Film Star\, his 18th full length album and second release from Jurado’s own Maraqopa Records label. But as he enters his 25th year as a recording artist\, it’s clear these are\, at the least\, very good days for Jurado on the creative front. In these 12 songs\, which evoke half-recalled dreams and overheard conversations\, the cosmic rushes headlong into the autobiographical and specific moments on the clock fade from past to future to scenes set only in the eternal now.\nPlaying out like a backlot documentary filmed on the location of an unnamed TV or film set—maybe a sitcom taping\, or perhaps it’s a low budget science fiction B-movie\, or could it be a talk show?—the album is populated by performers awaiting call times\, camera operators praying for their shot\, and studio audiences rapt with anticipation. The stars here eschew glitz and glamor. Instead\, they wander grocery stores and parking lots in the verdant Pacific Northwest and the desert Southwest\, looking for payphones and a sense of purpose. \nProduced by Jurado with multi-instrumentalist Josh Gordon and recording engineer Alex Bush at Sonikwire studio in Irvine\,CA\, Jurado’s home away from home and musical headquarters\, the record’s compositions are among the most musically rich in his vast discography\, encompassing romantic AM gold\, ‘60s psychedelia\, driving rock & roll\, Latin shuffles\, and left of the dial ambiance. Strings swell\, melodic bass bubbles\, and piano sparkles\, undergirding Jurado’s unmistakable voice\, at once intimately present and ghostly\, grounded in the here and now but capable\, at any moment\, of drifting off into the divinatory. Following threads established by 2021’s The Monster Who Hated Pennsylvania\, the album sees Jurado embracing his auteur era\, penning vignettes that arrive with little fanfare and depart quicker than you might suspect\, only to linger long after they wrap. \n \nChris Pureka \nChris Pureka is an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter based in Portland\, Oregon. Her elegant emotionality as a vocalist and her flair as a lyricist have garnered her favorable comparisons to Chan Marshall\, Bruce Springsteen\, and Patty Griffin. Over many years of touring on both sides of the Atlantic\, she has shared the stage with such diverse and esteemed artists as The Lumineers\, Gregory Alan Isakov\, The Cowboy Junkies\, Haley Heynderickx\, and Ani DiFranco. She has had her songs featured on such television shows as Brothers and Sisters and Shameless\, as well as a song featured in the Sundance featured indie film\, The Royal Road. The Longest Year is Pureka’s 8th release. \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

SUMMARY:W.I.T.C.H.
DESCRIPTION:W.I.T.C.H. (We Intend To Cause Havoc) were the biggest rock band in Zambia in the 1970s and spearheaded a new genre dubbed Zamrock\, fusing influences that ranged from the Rolling Stones to Black Sabbath and James Brown and mixing them with traditional African rhythms and bush village songs. At t the peak of their popularity\, the band often needed police to keep fans at bay while their lead singer Jagari – whose name is an Africanization of Mick Jagger’s – riled up crowds by stage diving from balconies and dancing manically as the WITCH’s blend of psychedelic rock and African rhythms permeated the surrounding atmosphere. \nJagari is the charismatic sole surviving original member of the band. As Zambia’s economy stagnated and the country buckled under the AIDS crisis\, WITCH fell apart. Jagari retreated to a life of quasi-anonymity as a university music professor before being wrongfully arrested during Zambia’s toughest hour. Now a man in his 60s\, he spends his time mining gemstones hoping to strike it rich\, until very recently the band being just a nostalgic memory of his youth. \nLargely unknown outside of their home country\, WITCH finally got the exposure they deserved when Now Again Records reissued their entire discography in 2012. This allowed Jagari to play outside Africa for the first time and for a new generation of fans to discover his music. In 2016 he began a collaboration with Dutch musicians Jacco Gardner and Nic Mauskoviç\, and together with them\, in September 2017 WITCH headed out on its extremely successful first-ever European Tour. In the Fall of 2019\, WITCH embarked on their first North American tour. They return to the states including this show at The Drake on 10/9 following the screening of the documentary at the Amherst Cinema on 9/7. \nFood & Bar: A limited food menu of pizza and fries as well as our full bar will be available before and during the show. If you would like to eat before the show\, we encourage you to make a dinner reservation by going to Resy.

SUMMARY:Rebecca Loebe w/ Lilli Lewis
DESCRIPTION:Over the past decade\, Austin-based troubadour Rebecca Loebe has been steadily building her audience the old fashioned way: driving hundreds of thousands of  miles in an old station wagon\, performing in listening rooms and theaters across the US\, Canada\,  Japan\, Europe\, and the UK. During her last radio interview in England\, an announcer for the BBC  declared “Your voice should be available for free on the National Health!” \nHer singing voice landed her on national television when she was cast on the first season of NBC’s  The Voice. Ask her about that experience and she’ll proudly tell you that\, since her mentorship with  Adam Levine\, “His career has really skyrocketed and I’m just so proud of that boy.” \nLately she’s been indulging a sneaky pastime. “I like to write catchy songs about topics that are  meaningful to me\, but use fun hooks to put words in people’s mouths.” She admits\, “My favorite  thing is to get people singing along before they even realize they’re singing about women’s  equality or their own self-worth.” \nIn 2019\, she released her fifth studio album\, her first collaboration with the Grammy nominated  Houston-based record label Blue Corn Music. The genre-bending album borrows equally from the  worlds of intimate folk\, ear wormy pop\, and no-holds-barred Americana. \nRefusing to pledge allegiance to any single genre was a creative gamble that has paid off in a big  way: Give Up Your Ghosts has received the best press of Loebe’s career including praise from Billboard\, Rolling Stone\, and legendary rock critic Dave Marsh\, who said: “Once I put it on I couldn’t take it off.” \nLilli Lewis \n \nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram \nProgressive\, provocative\, glorious powerhouse performer with a focus on social justice \n“A powerhouse performer adding her unique voice and talent to the national discussion of the state of social justice in America.” – The Kennedy Center \nThe self-professed Folk Rock Diva Lili Lewis returns to recording with a rootsy\, country soul album that really hits the spot with its melancholy meditations and narratives.  – Americana UK \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.
