SUMMARY:Oh Freedom II: The Soul of Freedom
DESCRIPTION:**Please Notice: All Natalie’s shows have socially distanced table seating\, and masks are required unless while seated at tables. \nNatalie’s Grandview presents Oh Freedom II: The Soul of Freedom\, featuring Nikki D & the Browns\, along with special guest Debra James Tucker. This engaging program will include some of the early soul classics dealing with freedom struggle\, and a narration covering the history of music and civil rights. \nNikki is well known as a “Sacred Steel” player\, a musical style\, and African-American gospel tradition of using lap steel and pedal steel guitars in church. The Brown Family Singers were formed by their parents\, the late Curtis and Ruth Brown in 1973.  Their dad encouraged them not to only sing\, but also to learn to play musical instruments. They have performed throughout the gospel music circuit and have won awards and recorded several projects\, including the 2010 Ohio Gospel Superfest Winners\, 2014 Lowell Folk Festival participants\, 2014 Toledo Quartet Music Association Grammy Award Winners\, and the 2015 B-Made Known Talent Search winners. \nThe unique sound of vocalist Debra James Tucker is a product of extensive training in jazz\, classical\, and gospel music. She is the writer/performer of the one-woman show Survival of the Boulevard Singer—winner of an Ohio Arts Council Award for Individual Excellence\, has been a visiting instructor at Denison University in the history of African American Gospel Music\, and an artist in residence with a number of youth arts organizations.

SUMMARY:Hoodoo Soul Band
DESCRIPTION:Hoodoo Soul Band\, presented by The Rumba Café\, continues their weekly residency at Natalie’s Grandview with a show every Sunday. Due to COVID-19\, tables will be sold instead of individual seats\, and guests are required to wear masks when not seated. Hoodoo Soul Band began as a side project for several seasoned veterans of the Columbus music scene who wanted an outlet to play Funk and Rhythm and Blues with a horn section. In January of 1995\, these players started a weekly residency at Oldfield’s on High (now under a new name) and it quickly became the “place to be” for Columbus\, Ohio music scene junkies. In 2008\, the group found a new home for their residency at Rumba Cafe on Summit Street and the crowd followed. Due to the COVID pandemic\, Natalie’s is hosting the shows until the Rumba is reopened for live music.\n\nPrimarily a cover band\, Hoodoo is known for curating a unique setlist while giving each song its own original treatment. The players effectively turn soul songs into standards which they deconstruct on the fly\, improvising new arrangements in front of the crowd\, and introducing audiences to funky\, unfamiliar gems that quickly become crowd favorites. Most of the group is still made up of the original members but new blood has been introduced over the years. At any given show the line up may change with only the very best players in the city subbing in. The focus is music and the standards are high. Hoodoo Soul has also been direct support for world-class acts passing through Columbus such as Parliament and Ray Charles among many others.

SUMMARY:The Cordial Sins
DESCRIPTION:Please Note: All Natalie’s shows have socially distanced table seating only\, no general admission\, and masks are required except while seated at tables. The Cordial Sins are drawing fervent attention for their delectable meld of alternative\, shoegaze and pop\, having released their latest EP\, In Memory\, on Diversion Records and completed their first U.S. tour in support of Elvis Depressedly. The group’s electrifying performance has also been showcased on stages shared with the likes of The Breeders\, Foals\, The Flaming Lips\, Twin Peaks\, Wolf Alice\, and more. \nIn Memory\, released October 2019\, was written in earnest by The Cordial Sins co-founders\, Liz Fisher (vocals\, guitar) and Corey Dickerson (lead guitar\, vocals)\, and lovingly bore by long-time bandmates Kyle Edwards (guitar)\, John Allen (bass) and Mike Ortiz (drums)\, all during the most haphazardly fleeting form of time: tour. In moments on the road — of arresting inspiration\, dissembling emotion\, and scarce stillness — The Cordial Sins made a grittily fizzing meld of rasping indie rock\, melty shoegaze\, and raw emotion\, almost combative in its strength. In Memory is Out Now on Chicago-based label\, Diversion Records https://diversion-records.com/album-cs-im.html%22%20%5Ct%20%22_blank.

SUMMARY:Hot Tuna (Acoustic) Early Show
DESCRIPTION:Hot Tuna\, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady\, perform with a well-honed and solid power – always in the groove from their years of experience and mutual inspiration. Started as a side project during Jefferson Airplane days\, the constant\, the very definition of Hot Tuna\, has always been Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady. The two boyhood pals have never wavered in one of the most enduring friendships in Rock history. \nFrom their days playing together as teenagers in the Washington\, DC area\, through years of inventive psychedelic rock in San Francisco (1996 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees)\, to their current acoustic and electric blues sound\, no one has more consistently led American music for the last 50 years than Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady\, the founders and continuing core members of Hot Tuna. At the 2016 Grammys\, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards. \nGuitarist and vocalist\, Jorma Kaukonen is a highly respected interpreter of roots music\, blues\, Americana\, and popular rock-and-roll. Jorma’s repertoire goes far beyond psychedelic rock; he is a music legend and one of the finest singer-songwriters in music. Jorma tours the world bringing his unique styling to old blues while writing new songs of weight and dimension. \nOne of the most unique innovators in the sixty-year history of the bass guitar\, Jack Casady made his sweeping melodic mark helping to create the “San Francisco Sound” with the legendary rock group Jefferson Airplane. Jack went on to track with Jimi Hendrix\, Crosby\, Stills\, Nash & Young\, Warren Zevon\, members of the Grateful Dead\, John Lee Hooker\, and Gov’t Mule. Casady\, regarded as one of rock’s greatest bassists\, is certainly one of its most original. \n“Jorma Kaukonen is a force in American music\, equally adept at fingerpicked acoustic folk and blues as he is at wailing on an electric.” – Acoustic Guitar \n“Jack Casady is virtually unparalleled–and yet he has one of the most truly unique electric-bass voices in rock…he can melt into a supportive role but when opportunity knocks\, he bursts forth with creative lines–both simple and ornate–that are unlike any you’ve heard” – Premier Guitar

SUMMARY:Hot Tuna (Acoustic) Late Show
DESCRIPTION:Hot Tuna\, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady\, perform with a well-honed and solid power – always in the groove from their years of experience and mutual inspiration. SUMMARY:The Hoodoo Soul Band
DESCRIPTION:*Please Note: All Natalie’s shows have socially distanced table seating\, and masks are required except while seated at tables. Hoodoo Soul Band\, presented by the Rumba Café\, continues its residency inside the Music Hall (featuring increased outside air circulation\, high 21 foot tall ceilings) at Natalie’s Grandview every Sunday. In 2008\, the group found a new home for their residency at Rumba Café on Summit Street and the crowd followed. Due to the covid pandemic\, Natalie’s is hosting the shows until the Rumba is reopened for live music. \nPrimarily a cover band\, Hoodoo is known for curating a unique setlist while giving each song its own original treatment. At any given show the line-up may change with only the very best players in the city subbing in. The focus is music and the standards are high. Hoodoo Soul has also been direct support for world-class acts passing through Columbus such as Parliament and Ray Charles among many others. \nHoodoo Circle:\nEach circle is a designated zone for you and 5 other friends to dance and Hoodoo the night away. No seats\, standing (and dancing) room only\, with a table for your food and drinks. \n*Each ticket admits up to 6 people \nLive Stream:\nThe Hoodoo Soul Band presents a live streaming concert from the stage at Natalie’s Grandview. With each ticket\, you will receive an email confirmation with a link to the stream as well as a discount code to receive 20% off an online or carryout order at any Natalie’s location. SUMMARY:Chris Gatton
DESCRIPTION:*Please Note: All shows at Natalie’s has socially distanced table seating\, and masks are required except while seated at tables. Chris Gatton creates music with the spirit of American blues and RnB with a subtle nod to contemporary classical music\, jazz\, and the avant grade. Very subtle. He sings with an intensity of desire that occasionally threatens to engulf its host\, though he has survived all performances to date. His guitar playing holds a particular emphasis on beautiful melody and the anticipation of sublime possibilities. His frequent collaborator\, Cedric Easton\, brings unrivaled musicality\, genuine spirit\, heart palpating groove\, and a devastatingly keen sense of the romantic to Chris’s music whenever schedules permit. They have kept this up for over a decade and seem to be going strong. \nLive Stream\nChris Gatton presents a live streaming concert from the stage at Natalie’s Grandview that can be viewed from the comfort of your own home. SUMMARY:An Evening with The Wonderfool & Little Miami (To Be Rescheduled)
DESCRIPTION:Due to current circumstances with covid\, this show will be rescheduled to a future date. Ticket holders will be contacted to review options\, and we apologize for any inconvenience.  \n*Please Note: All Natalie’s shows have socially distanced table seating\, and masks are required except while seated at tables. Natalie’s presents an amazing double bill of music featuring The Wonderfool (Caamp’s Matt Vinson) and Little Miami (Rourke Papania). The Wonderfool is the recording alias of Columbus-based musician Matt Vinson\, and the project began in Athens\, Ohio around 2015. Lyrically\, the focus is to create an open-ended\, ambiguous feeling that gives each song a different meaning for the listener. \nLittle Miami is the name of the river that flows through Yellow Springs\, the hometown of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Rourke Papania. He adopted the moniker after performing for a number of years as Gaptooth Grin.

SUMMARY:Angela Perley (moved to February 12)
DESCRIPTION:Due to covid related regulations\, this show has been moved to February 12 \n*Please note: All Natalie’s shows have socially distanced table seating\, and masks are required except while seated at tables. Angela Perley returns to the Music Hall at Natalie’s Grandview for her annual Thanksgiving shows! “Angela Perley has been gigging nonstop with her band The Howlin’ Moons since they released their debut album in 2014\, laying down an interesting mix of folk\, Americana\, and ’60s-tinged psychedelic rock that floats seamlessly between Bob Dylan and Procol Harum\, sometimes within the same song.”— No Depression \nAll of this led up to Perley’s latest LP\, ‘4:30’ (released Aug. 2\, 2019)\, her first solo effort which she co-produced with longtime guitarist and collaborator\, Chris Connor. Her third full-length record illustrates the songwriter’s knack for deft storytelling\, warm vocal layers\, and disarming melodies that beget personal growth and mobility\, surging from raw and far-sighted pathos. \nBillboard says\, “The set’s 12 songs run the gamut from psychedelic garage rock to melodic pop and heartfelt country and Americana” and Perley’s character-driven love songs on ‘4:30’ are surreal in their ability to master genre-fluidity\, with forthright storytelling\, wry lyricism and a host of dreamy instrumentation. \nPerley has opened for Willie Nelson\, Lucinda Williams\, Tyler Childers\, CAAMP\, O.A.R\, and Blues Traveller and continues her musical journey one record and show at a time. \nLive Stream:\n\n\nAngela Perley presents a live streaming concert from the stage at Natalie’s Grandview that can be viewed from our Facebook page. SUMMARY:Lil' Ed & the Blues Imperials (to be rescheduled)
DESCRIPTION:Due to covid related regulations\, this show has been postponed and will be rescheduled as soon as possible. Ticket holders will be contacted to review options\, and we apologize for any inconvenience. \n*Please Note: All shows at Natalie’s have socially distanced table seating\, and masks are required except while seated at tables. From smoking slide guitar boogies to raw-boned Chicago shuffles to the deepest slow blues\, guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Lil’ Ed Williams is an awe-inspiring master bluesman. World-renowned Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials have been standing tall for almost 30 years. The band’s big sound\, fueled by Lil’ Ed’s gloriously rollicking slide work and deep blues string bending\, along with his rough-edged\, soulful vocals\, is as real and hard-hitting as Chicago blues gets. The Chicago Sun-Times says\, “Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials are the hottest purveyors of bottleneck boogie to come out of Chicago since Hound Dog Taylor.” \nLil’ Ed Williams comes to the blues naturally. His uncle\, Chicago slide guitar king\, and master songwriter J.B. Hutto taught him how to feel\, not just play the blues. Nine albums and thousands of performances later\, Lil’ Ed is now universally hailed as a giant of the genre. Lil’ Ed and The Blues Imperials—bassist (and Ed’s half-brother) James “Pookie” Young\, guitarist Mike Garrett\, and drummer Kelly Littleton—have remained together for nearly 30 years (an extraordinary feat for any group)\, the band fueling Ed’s songs with their rock-solid\, road-tested\, telepathic musicianship. \nWith The Big Sound Of Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials\, their latest album\, the band continues to bring their blistering Chicago blues to “Ed Heads” new and old. Their infectious energy\, joyful showmanship\, and masterful playing have been honed to a razor’s edge by their many years together.

SUMMARY:The Hoodoo Soul Band Live Stream
DESCRIPTION:Natalie’s presents a live stream concert with the Hoodoo Soul Band\, featuring the debut of vocalist Jonathan Vernon (Floorwalkers/Popgun) live from Natalie’s Grandview without an audience. This concert can be viewed for free from Natalie’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Nataliesgrandview starting at 8 pm. Due to the covid pandemic\, Natalie’s is hosting the shows until the Rumba is reopened for live music. \nPrimarily a cover band\, Hoodoo is known for curating a unique setlist while giving each song its own original treatment. At any given show the line-up may change with only the very best players in the city subbing in. The focus is music and the standards are high. Hoodoo Soul has also been direct support for world-class acts passing through Columbus such as Parliament and Ray Charles among many others. \nThe Ohiolina Music Festival is held annually to celebrate the musical and culinary influences of Ohio and North Carolina\, two states with unique contributions to music and culture. For more information and to sign up for their mailing list\, visit https://www.ohiolina.com/ \nThis is a pay what you want event on Facebook\, and payments can be made through our PayPal link: PayPal.me/NataliesColumbus or our Venmo @NataliesColumbus. All contributions go towards compensation for the band\, Natalie’s\, and the video live stream production costs.
