SUMMARY:Boy Named Banjo: Dusk 'Til Dawn Tour
DESCRIPTION:In a time when the popular choice is to chase the double yellow line down the road to country radio\, Boy Named Banjo thrives on its fringes. The Nashville-raised five-piece is a fusion of contemporary country\, Americana and folk-rock stacked on a foundation of bluegrass. \n“We’re trying to find our own niche within popular country music today\,” says Sam McCullough (drums). “But not straight down the middle.” \nThe band\, which has been together in some iteration since members were in high school\, is comprised of Barton Davies (banjo)\, Ford Garrard (bass/standing bass)\, Sam McCullough (drums) Willard Logan (mandolin\, acoustic/electric guitar) and William Reames (acoustic guitar/harmonica). William and Willard played in a middle school garage rock band together\, but it wasn’t until William met Barton in high school English class that Boy Named Banjo started to take shape. \nBoy Named Banjo released their debut EP\, Circles\, on Mercury Records in summer of 2021. The collection includes seven tracks co-written by members of the band including he compassionate “Go Out Dancing\,” which the band says takes on a much larger meaning post pandemic thinking “if it really was ending” what would we do? They used the time to write songs and hone in on their sound with writer/producer Oscar Charles (Carly Pearce\, Charlie Worsham\, Elvie Shane). With a catalog of songs to choose from\, and recent time spent in the studio\, the guys are deciding what to run with next. \nThe band is currently out on the road playing some of country music’s largest festivals including Dierks Bentley’s Seven Peaks\, Country Jam\, and they recently made their CMA Fest debut playing at the Ascend Amphitheatre Nighttime Concert. They head out on the road this fall as direct support to multi-PLATINUM singer/songwriter\, Kip Moore on his Fire on Wheels Tour. \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show. DESCRIPTION:Nikki D & The Browns a.k.a The Sisters of Thunder is a family based group from Toledo\, Ohio. Their unique style is Gospel with Blues riffs and grooves\, all punctuated by Nikki D’s wildly soulful and electrifying steel guitar. In fact\, in 2016\, Guitar World magazine described Nikki as “The Jimi Hendrix of ‘Sacred Steel’ because of her willingness to experiment with vocal-like riffs and at times otherworldly sounds. She’s also a soulful vocalist that commands the attention of those that hear her raspy\, but yet sultry voice. The group is known for powerfully moving\, revival-like performances\, with beautifully atmospheric vocals riding above a wave of infectious rhythms and grooves. Their music has allowed them to open for artists like late Rance Allen\, The Slide Brothers and rock band\, Raconteurs. Their excitement for what they do and the energy they give will have you up on your feet. When they hit the stage\, a forecast for hand clapping and toe tapping will be expected. She is the writer/performer of the one woman show Survival of the Boulevard Singer—winner of an Ohio Arts Council Award for Individual Excellence\, has been a visiting instructor at Denison University in the history of African American Gospel Music\, and an artist in residence with several youth arts organizations. \nSoul Sunday at Natalie’s is held on the first Sunday of each month. This monthly series\, held on the second Wednesday of each month\, will include a special guest for each show\, and there will be rotating bourbon and other happy hour specials as well!   \n \nDecember’s special guest is 2023 Columbus Blues Challenge solo winner\, Joe Waters. Joe is a multi talented musician out of Dayton Ohio who plays Blues\, Funk\, Folk\, and Americana music. Joe is a singer and a songwriter. He writes original music and he also pays homage to original blues artist by singing old blues standards and deep cuts. His love for playing music started when he was 5 years old after his parents bought him a harmonica from the Cracker Barrel gift shop. Joe dedicated himself to learning not only the harmonica but the guitar\, drums\, and vocals as well. Joe’s father\, Jack Waters\, has been a musician for 35+ years and Joe expresses his gratitude for his father starting him in his music career. As a duo\, Jack and Joe have performed together for 20 years with 4 albums recorded\, they have placed 1st in three local Ohio blues contest\, and they were semi-finalist in the International Blues Contest. Although Joe’s recent focus has been the new EP he is recording with his band\, he still loves to play music with his father any time he can. The new EP\, by Joe Waters and The Back Porch Band\, shows off Joe’s skills as a musician as well as his skills as a songwriter. Other recent events for Joe Waters include winning the 2022 Telluride Blues Challenge which awarded him a spot on the Durango Blues Train and th e opening show of the 2023 Telluride Blues and Brews Festival. Joe Waters is pouring his creative expression into the EP with his band and a Solo Album that he is excited to share with you all! He hopes to have both the EP and Solo Album done by the end of this year and those who have heard this young man are eagerly awaiting his next creation.  \nDeuce n a Quarter is a celebrated central Ohio based blues band comprised of Andre Scott (drums)\, Martin O. Brown (bass & vocals)\, Keven Jones (keyboard)\, Keith Colbert (guitar) and Brian Peters (lead vocals & harmonica). The band and its members have a list of credits as performing artists and studio musicians. They are two-time Ohio Music Award winners\, two-time Columbus Blues Challenge winners and two-time International Blues Challenge finalists. The band’s forte is its original\, blues-based music where you’ll hear the influence of blues\, country\, soul\, and gospel. They have a long list of noteworthy performances at festivals\, night clubs and music venues…  where they’re always the crowd favorite. \nThe Columbus Blues Alliance (CBA) is a non-profit organization founded to help preserve and nurture blues music and is an affiliate of the Blues Foundation in Memphis. And just by showing up you’ll be supporting an incredible cause because a portion of ticket sales go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital! \nThe evening will also feature a charity raffle with items from Dave Buker & The Historian’s\, Natalies and Jesse Hubbard with the entirety of the money from the raffle going to St. Jude as well. \nSo\, mark your calendars and be sure to join us on December 16th for the Saint Russell’s Holiday Bash! \n\nDave Buker & the Historians: based in Columbus\, OH\, Dave Buker and the historians have been spreading their brand of americana since 2010. After performing at 2017’s Bunbury music festival\, which also featured death cab for cutie and the shins\, they won cd92.9fm’s local artist contest\, were featured by American songwriter magazine\, and opened for spoon\, alvvays\, and the aces. But as was true for many musicians\, the covid-19 pandemic slowed the band’s momentum\, and they chose to focus on writing and recording new music. The result is heirlooms\, the band’s first album of original music since 2019’s it moves in the dark. \nThe album is a change of pace that saw the band collaborate with new audio engineers and cultivate a more modern and energetic approach. Music blog tuned up recognized this in the album’s first single\, “Stubborn Blood”\, saying – “right out of the gate\, I’m struck by the driving nature of the song and the crunch of the guitars. This is somewhat unexpected for Buker\, an americana influenced indie artist that has been prolific in the Columbus scene for years.” The single was accompanied by a music video that pays homage to 80’s slasher films and emphasizes the more aggressive approach to the music. \nHeirlooms’ ten tracks show a different side of Dave Buker and the historians\, at once less organic and more intimate and urgent\, while maintaining the lyrical textures and vocal harmonies that have come to define the band. A cross-pollination of folk\, indie lounge\, Euro Cafe\, art pop\, and punk cabaret\, their exploration of odd time signatures\, neo-minimalist pulses\, ethereal timbres\, and vast dynamic spectra transmutes ontology into sound.
