SUMMARY:HooDoo Soul Band - SOLD OUT!
DESCRIPTION:The Hoodoo Soul Band returns to Natalie’s stage with all 11 members for a special all seated show (dancing still encouraged!) Hoodoo began as a side project for several seasoned veterans of the Columbus music scene who wanted an outlet to play Funk and Rhythm and Blues with a horn section. Primarily a cover band\, Hoodoo is known for curating a unique set list while giving each song their own original treatment. The players effectively turn soul songs into standards which they deconstruct on the fly\, improvising new arrangements in front of the crowd\, and introducing audiences to funky\, unfamiliar gems that quickly become crowd favorites. Most of the group is still made up of the original members but new blood has been introduced over the years. At any given show the line-up may change with only the very best players in the city subbing in. The focus is music and the standards are high. Hoodoo Soul has also been direct support for world-class acts passing through Columbus such as Parliament and Ray Charles among many others. \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

SUMMARY:Enter the Haggis
DESCRIPTION:For over two decades\, Toronto’s Enter The Haggis has combined bagpipes and fiddles with a rock rhythm section to create a distinctively eclectic sound\, praised by The Boston Globe\, The Washington Post and Canada’s Globe and Mail. Their songs offer singalong melodies and deep\, meaningful lyrics which tell the stories of everyday hard working people\, often faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges. Signature songs like “One Last Drink”\, “Gasoline”\, “Down With The Ship” and “Lancaster Gate” have had millions of plays on streaming services\, appeared in Hollywood movies\, and have been performed and recorded by artists around the world.  \nEnter The Haggis is clearly comfortable on the stage and develops an easy rapport with audiences\, sharing the stories behind their songs and laughing through tour anecdotes. Their show is exciting and dynamic\, featuring unpredictable and spontaneous moments. One song might feature Brian Buchanan and Rose Baldino trading fiery fiddle lines\, while the next song highlights Craig Downie taking a trumpet solo or ripping through a bagpipe reel. Sometimes during an encore\, the band will leave the stage entirely to perform acoustically standing on chairs in the audience.  \nEnter The Haggis‘ commitment to putting on a great show every single night has made them a favorite at festivals and performing arts centers across the US and Canada.  As a result\, ETH shows have become an annual tradition on some of the most prestigious stages on the continent. The band has also brought hundreds of fans on eight tours of Ireland and two of Scotland\, forging deeper friendships with their supporters while exploring ancient landmarks and natural wonders across each country. \nEnter The Haggis has appeared on “Live with Regis and Kelly” and “A&E’s Breakfast With The Arts“\, and was the feature of an hour-long PBS concert special which aired for months on more than eighty affiliate stations across the US.  The band’s legions of die-hard fans (the self-described “Haggis Heads“) have crowdfunded the last five ETH albums\, helping to propel their releases to the top of Folk Radio and Billboard Heatseekers charts.  \nEnter The Haggis is currently touring in support of its latest single\, a true story sea-shanty called “Swallowed By A Whale.” \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show. If you would like to eat before the show we encourage you to make a dinner reservation on Resy for our kitchen side of the venue.

SUMMARY:Aaron Lee Tasjan & Friends
DESCRIPTION:Tasjan! Tasjan! Tasjan! \nTasjan! Tasjan! Tasjan! \, the new album from Aaron Lee Tasjan\, a genre-bending rising star who’s bold reimagination of classic sounds and songwriting has established him as one of the most idiosyncratic artists of his generation. \nHis self-titled fourth album is a masterclass in interstellar pop\, vintage glam\, 90s Anglophilia and experimental and psychedelic rock & roll. Irreverent lyrics may show Tasjan with his tongue in his cheek\, but Tasjan! Tasjan! Tasjan! is an album with something to say. His autobiographical lyrics reflect on self-acceptance\, expose his own contradictions and offer a unique self-deprecating critique on the millennial\ngeneration’s simultaneous capacity for great empathy and narcissism. The album also explores notions of mental health\, identity and sexuality and is dedicated to the alternative kids who also felt “other” growing up. \nTasjan has been on a shapeshifting musical journey his whole life. From his glam rock roots\, when Jimmy Iovine told him “guys in make-up don’t sell records” and Lady Gaga would open for his band in NYC\, to his legend-hopping guitar sideman days\, where he played with everyone from The New York Dolls to Sean Lennon and traveled the globe\, collecting road war tales from doing mushrooms with Bono to twitter spats with Peter Frampton. \nHis search for a musical locus and geographic wanderings began in his early teens. They took him from Delaware\, to California\, to New York\, to his current home in Nashville. He moved there in 2015 to play guitar in a band that imploded on his arrival. Through dumb luck\, he quickly landed a deal with New West Records and became an established musical entity\, releasing a diverse succession of critically acclaimed albums that drew the attention of everyone from NPR Music to Rolling Stone. \nDespite this success\, seeds of doubt started to bloom. After multiple musical incarnations\, his label questioned Tasjan’s direction and where he should go next. So did Tasjan\, as he internalized their recommendations\, musical paralysis ensued. He toured through 2019 and then came to a realization that he needed to give himself permission to go rogue. Sparked by the fond memory of an LSD-laced songwriting session that occurred years ago\, when he felt at his most accomplished and free. \nWith equal parts uncertainty and recklessness — he hid from his label and covertly crafted Tasjan! Tasjan! Tasjan! co-producer Gregory Lattimer and mixed with John Congleton (Angel Olson\, Bill Callahan\, Sharon Van Etten\, Lana Del Ray)….There was no need for doubt. With humor\, wit and irony\, Tasjan! Tasjan! Tasjan! ’s personal and hopeful vision was a coded message to himself and showed him\, self-belief\nwas all he needed to get out of his own way. \nHe feels grateful to his label for “motivating him to prove them and himself wrong.” Tasjan’s determined pursuit of his singular sound\, led him to a sense of musical realization and his most compelling album to date. Whilst his tour plans were pushed during the pandemic he’s been working with Noon Chorus and been delivering some great live streams and historically he has opened for Marcus King\, Greta Van Fleet and opening festival stages for Willie Nelson\, Jeff Tweedy and Social Distortion with his band at festivals from Stagecoach to Summer Fest to Bonnaroo. \nFood & Bar: Our Full food and  bar menus will be available for purchase before and during the show. If you would like to sit and eat before the show\, we encourage you to make a dinner reservation by going to Resy.

Four musicians from very different musical backgrounds came together to create a full-time professional touring band with the aim of showcasing the rich tradition of songs and tunes of the North- East of Scotland on an international stage. \nLike many of the early flag bearing Scottish folk bands the Old Blind Dogs line up has faced inevitable changes over the years but the core values at the band’s musical heart continue to beat strong. \nThe current line up consisting of original members Jonny Hardie (fiddle/vocals)\, Aaron Jones (cittern/guitar/ vocals) and Donald Hay (percussion/vocals) are now joined by the brilliant piper/whistle player and internet sensation Elias Alexander for their US/Canadian tours. \nThey comprise one of the hottest live tickets on the traditional Scottish music scene today touring all over the USA\, Europe and at home. Inducted into the BBC ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards ‘Trad Music Hall of Fame’ in 2020\, the ‘Dogs’ have celebrated over thirty years on the road. \nTheir fourteenth studio album ‘Knucklehead Circus’ is a joyous\, uplifting and fun record full of compelling energy and intoxicating rhythm on which ‘OBD’ continue to innovate within their tradition while faithfully revealing its essence. SUMMARY:Beppe Gambetta: Album Release for Terra Madre
DESCRIPTION:Beppe Gambetta returns to Natalie’s to celebrate the release of his new record Terra Madre (Mother Earth). Gambetta is an Italian guitarist\, vocalist and composer who found a way to make Italian and American traditions speak together with one voice. Born in the seaport city of Genova and raised on American Flatpicking he developed a unique captivating guitar and performance style. Beppe is beloved all over the world\, gaining new fans and friends with every performance and every new recording. \nTerra Madre (Mother Earth) is a project written\, played and sung (in several languages) by Beppe: a musical key to open a world of tales and dreams related to the motherlands of infinite possible itineraries\, and to the cries of pain and hope that rise from them. This sonic opus draws its energy from new journeys and explorations within the vast creative territory encompassed by acoustic guitar mastery\, musical composition and songwriting\, and by conscious choice relies foremost on the intensity of expression and emotion\, rather than pure virtuosity.  \nTerra Madre offers a positive message at a moment in history when the political leaders on the planet are mainly indulging in greed and self-preservation\, and when words of hope must instead come from more free-thinking vocations: philosophers\, theologians\, historians and scientists\, among whom it is essential to count artists\, especially those less tied to mere market dynamics. The record weaves together the experience and wisdoms of a fifty-year career\, and the work is further enriched by the participation of internationally renowned guests from different musical genres. “Fathers” of acoustic music such as American mandolin icon David Grisman\, acoustic guitar pioneer Dan Crary\, and celebrated bluegrass and Americana singer-songwriter Tim O’Brien lend their talents to the project.  \nDifferent dimensions are added by the presence of New York avant-garde drummer/percussionist Joe Bonadio\, the versatile acoustic jazz harmonica player Howard Levy\, and from the world of “Newgrass” Jam Bands\, the hugely popular bassist\, Travis Book. \nA core concept of the new CD is to assert the “right to dream\,” to seek consolation and refuge from a hostile and sometimes brutal reality; not as pure escape\, but as a source of hope that helps us to survive and find positive motivation to move forward.  \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

SUMMARY:Joe Waters & Piper and The Hard Times (2024 IBC Winners)
DESCRIPTION:Joe Waters is a multitalented musician out of Dayton Ohio who plays Blues\, Funk\, Folk\, and Americana music. He writes original music\, and he also pays homage to original blues artist by singing old blues standards and deep cuts. His love for playing music started when he was 5 years old after his parents bought him a harmonica from the Cracker Barrel gift shop. Joe dedicated himself to learning not only the harmonica but the guitar\, drums\, jaw-harp and vocals as well.  \nThis talented and skilled young man has poured his heart and soul into his music for the past 20+ years\, and he has received well-deserved acknowledgment for his hard work and dedication.  He has taken first place in two major Blues Music Contests: \nJoe Waters won 1st place in the 2024 International Blues Challenge held in Memphis Tennessee.   \nHe also won 1st place in the 2022 Telluride Blues Challenge held in Telluride Colorado.  \nWhen you hear Joe perform\, it’s no surprise that he has earned both of those first-place titles.  His love and passion for music flows from him when he performs.  He is currently creating music for his next album\, which will be his second album as an Independent Artist. His previous album “In The Hot Seat” was recorded by his friend and fellow musician\, Anthony ‘Saxtone’ Arrington.   \nJoe’s father\, Jack Waters\, has been a musician for 35+ years and Joe expresses his gratitude for his father starting him in his music career. As a duo\, Jack and Joe have performed together for 20 years with 4 albums recorded\, they have placed 1st in three local Ohio blues contest\, and they were semi-finalist in the International Blues Contest. \nJoe is continually deepening his connection to music and allowing music to flow through him.  He knows music has the power to heal the heart and unite the people\, and he hopes to keep creating songs that do just that. \n  \nPiper & the Hard Times delivers intense\, eclectic and rhythmically dynamic blues-based music flavored with R&B\, soul and rock. The band has an instrumental prowess that enables them to improvise with flair\, while still creating music that has a melodic appeal that can immediately connect with audiences who want both a high degree of musical competence and songs with strong grooves and catchy hooks. In January 2024 they took top honors in the band division at the prestigious International Blues Challenge held in Memphis\, Tennessee. The core of the band\, Al “Piper” Green\, Steve Eagon\, and Dave Colella have been playing and writing together for over 20 years. Over the course of three days in February 2024\, Nashville-based Piper & the Hard Times held court in the legendary Ronnie’s Place at Soundstage Studios in Nashville to record Revelation. The album features a collection of 12 original songs deeply anchored in the blues from the New Orleans-flavored groove of “Trouble Man” to the Texas shuffle “The Hard Times”\, the funk-rock “Heart for Sale”\, and the slow ache and emotion of “Twenty Long Years.” \nOne of America’s premier blues-roots artists\, Piper & the Hard Times has been delighting audiences across the South for nearly 20 years.. When you listen to their new album\, you’ll hear poignant\, inspired “from the soul” music from these talented players who love making music together. You can hear that energy and vitality in Revelation which debuted at #1 on the Billboard chart the week of August 27th\, 2014. \nPiper states\, “I’ve never been prouder of anything we’ve ever done. The new album captured us in every way imaginable.” \n“Piper & the Hard Times combine the sensibility and flair of vintage blues bands with the entertainment savvy and edge of modern rockers … one of America’s premier new blues groups.” (Ron Wynn/Nashville Scene)\nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show. \n

SUMMARY:Lilly Hiatt with Suzie Chism - LOW TICKET ALERT!
DESCRIPTION:The last few years have been a little hazy for Lilly Hiatt\, who finds herself searching for answers on her striking new album\, Forever. Recorded at home with her husband\, Coley Hinson who produced and played most of the instruments\, Forever grapples with growth and change\, escape and anxiety\, self-loathing and self-love. The songs are intensely vulnerable\, full of diaristic snapshots and deeply personal ruminations\, but they’re also broad invitations to find yourself in their unflinching emotional excavations. The result is a raw\, unvarnished work of love and trust that walks the line between alt-rock muscle and singer/songwriter sensitivity\, a bold\, guitar-driven exploration of maturity and adulthood from an artist who wants you to know you’re not alone\, no matter how lost you may feel.  \nBorn in Los Angeles and raised in Tennessee\, Hiatt first earned buzz with a pair of early solo records before breaking out with 2017’s Trinity Lane\, which helped earn dates with the likes of John Prine\, Margo Price\, Drive-By Truckers\, and Hiss Golden Messenger in addition to festival slots from Pilgrimage to Luck Reunion. NPR called the album “courageous and affecting\,” while Rolling Stone hailed it as “the most cohesive and declarative statement of the young songwriter’s career.” Hiatt returned in 2020 with the similarly well-received Walking Proof\, and in 2021 with Lately\, which The Boston Herald said showcased her “knack for plainspoken\, poetic lyrics” and Uncut proclaimed “captivating.” \nSuzie Chism opens the show. \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

SUMMARY:Alash Ensemble
DESCRIPTION:ALASH are masters of Tuvan throat singing (xöömei)\, a remarkable technique for singing multiple pitches at the same time. What distinguishes this trio from earlier generations of Tuvan throat singers is the subtle infusion of modern influences into their traditional music. One can find complex harmonies\, western instruments\, and contemporary song forms in Alash’s music\, but its overall sound and spirit remain decidedly Tuvan. \nTrained in traditional Tuvan music since childhood\, the Alash musicians studied at Kyzyl Arts College just as Tuva was beginning to open up to the West. They formed a traditional ensemble and won multiple awards for traditional throat singing in international xöömei competitions\, both as an ensemble and as individuals. At the same time\, they paid close attention to new trends coming out of the West. They have borrowed new ideas that mesh well with the sound and feel of traditional Tuvan music\, but they have never sacrificed the integrity of their own heritage in an effort to make their music more hip. \nAlash first toured the U.S. under the sponsorship of the OpenWorld Leadership program of the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Arts. Since then they have returned many times\, to the delight of American audiences. The Washington Post described their music as “utterly stunning\,” quipping that after the performance“audience members picked their jaws up off the floor.” \nAlash enjoys collaborating with musicians of all stripes. Since their early partnership with the legendary Sun Ra Arkestra\, they have joined forces with musicians across the spectrum—from country to classical to jazz to beatboxing. Alash appeared as guest artists on Béla Fleck & the Flecktones’ Grammy-winning holiday CD Jingle All the Way (2008). They joined Chicago’s innovative Fifth House Ensemble in a groundbreaking concert series called Sonic Meditations\, and later were part of a “global jam band” which recorded the soundtrack for the video game The Pathless. Most recently\, Bady-Dorzhu Ondar teamed up with beatboxer Shodekeh in a live recording of original Tuvan songs filtered through the creative artistry of hip hop musicians. \nBeyond performing\, Alash has a passion for teaching and promoting understanding between cultures. Their tours often include workshops in which they introduce Tuvan music to students in primary\, middle and high schools\, colleges\, universities\, and music conservatories. Children as young as 8 and 9 have learned to throat-sing. One inspired student exclaimed\, “Alash opened my eyes to a whole new world!” \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.
