SUMMARY:Joslyn & The Sweet Compression
DESCRIPTION:Joslyn & The Sweet Compression are bona fide\, and they want the world to know it. \nA rising force out of Lexington\, Kentucky\, the band led by Joslyn Hampton come out swinging on their sophomore album\, ready to uplift and inspire through their singular and stirring soul-funk sound. 2019’s critically acclaimed debut album made them a favorite headliner at regional clubs and music festivals. After a grueling and relentless tour schedule – one that saw them supporting Tower of Power at New York’s Sony Hall and Tyler Childers at Colorado’s legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre – the band are back with Bona Fide\, a sonically and emotionally charged record that captures their breathtaking live energy as well as their humanity. \nReleased August 25\, 2023\, Bona Fide is a resounding testament to Joslyn & The Sweet Compression’s unparalleled talents\, as well as an homage to the band’s co-founder (and Joslyn Hampton’s step-father)\, Marty Charters\, who passed away in 2022. \nMusically\, Bona Fide blends soulful and smoldering neo-funk with elements of ‘70s and ‘80s R&B. Hampton pulls from her inspirations – Aretha Franklin\, Chaka Khan\, Whitney Houston\, and Mariah Carey – as well as from the opera singers she studied in college. “I find myself applying all of the things I’ve learned to my passion now\, and placing it in my music\,” she shares. \nThe result is a unique\, hooky style that helps Joslyn & The Sweet Compression stand apart from their contemporaries. To Hampton\, Bona Fide is a record about a ride she calls “the human rollercoaster.” \n“You have falling in love\, getting cheated on\, celebrating this life – you only get one\,” she says. “We go through so many human emotions on this album\, and that’s what I want to bring to life: The ride of being a human! I want to take you to the moment you found the love of your life when you looked across the room. This album is literally meant to take you to every human emotion you have.” \n“I want them to see themselves in my songs and inspire them to be the best version of themselves.” \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

SUMMARY:Trad Nua Celtic Series: One for the Foxes
DESCRIPTION:Dave Curley\, Tadhg Ó Meachair & Joanna Hyde form an exciting and dynamic transatlantic trio that presents a rousing blend of Irish and American folk music\, having already won over audiences on both sides of the ocean. The group is made up of Dublin’s Tadhg Ó Meachair (Goitse)\, Galway’s Dave Curley (SLIDE) and Denver\, Colorado’s Joanna Hyde (The Hydes)\, and features a mix of Irish and American folk music and song – both traditional and newly- composed – presented in an energetic and engaging manner. \nTheir performances strike a tasteful balance between the stories found in ballads across both sides of the Atlantic and the respective instrumental music traditions of these places. Award-winning instrumentalists each in their own right\, Dave\, Tadhg & Joanna take a unique twist on the diverse strengths of their individual backgrounds\, weaving between traditional melodies\, their own compositions\, and songs from the broader folk canon. \nThe results are highly personalised and thrilling in their daring and forthright grasp of the material. Through a shared deep-rooted passion for Irish traditional music\, this trio highlights the vital role of Irish traditional music as an origin of many American folk musics\, and explores how those styles can interact with one another in a manner both eclectic and grounded. \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

SUMMARY:Brass Queens
DESCRIPTION:Brass Queens is a female-led\, New York-based brass band that has been dominating the brass band scene since 2019. \nFinding that they shared similar frustrations about the emerging brass band scene in New York City\, co-founders Alex Harris and Ally Chapel came together to form a group dedicated to showcasing the talents of female musicians in a landscape that was dominated by male musicians and bandleaders. After debuting in March 2019\, Brass Queens grew to be a fixture in the local music scene and was dubbed “the hardest working band in town” by their peers. The Queens gained a dedicated following through outdoor performances on the streets of Brooklyn and playing pop-up events in their community through the pandemic. \nA core value of the band is to play for as many audiences as possible to increase the visibility of female musicians in brass bands. Brass Queens tour regularly across the country and internationally. Recent highlights include a New Year’s Eve performance in Telluride\, multiple nights at Favela Chic in New Orleans\, and a sold out show at Cliff Bell’s in Detroit. They also make appearances on festival stages including the Ottawa Jazz Festival\, Northlands Music Festival\, MusikFest\, Duck Jazz Festival\, and multiple appearances at the Exit Zero Jazz Festival. Brass Queens has played major events like The Met Gala and David Byrne’s “Amazing Humans Doing Amazing Things!” Variety Show\, and for notable clients including New Balance\, Chanel\, Saks Fifth Avenue\, Tiffany & Co.\, Bombas\, Perrier\, Facebook\, Instagram\, and Pinterest. They have also performed on national television on Good Morning America\, and had multiple shows at iconic New York venues like The Capitol Theater\, Blue Note Jazz Club\, and Brooklyn Bowl. They are also the 2023 winners of We Love NYC’s Rider’s Choice Award\, after the people of New York voted the Queens as their favorite of the MTA’s Music Under New York’s roster of subway performers. \nThe band has developed a signature style that sits right at the intersection of the Big Apple and the Big Easy. Their sound is deeply inspired by and pays homage to the New Orleans brass band tradition while injecting the upbeat\, multifaceted energy of their New York home into each performance. The result is a nonstop party: a Brass Queens show will have you singing along to classic pop hits\, dancing your heart out to reggaeton\, and feeling like you’ve been transported to Frenchman Street. In February 2021\, Brass Queens released their debut EP Royal Street\, which takes listeners on a six-song journey beginning in the heart of New York City with a cover of Cameo’s Candy\, down to Royal St. with their take on a New Orleans traditional\, Little Liza Jane. In November 2023\, the band released their first full-length album titled Black & Gold\, which is an ode to the Brass Queen’s incredible early fanbase who supported the band from the virtual performances and socially-distanced street corners during the COVID-19 pandemic\, to the crowded clubs and packed venues of today. Less than a year later\, Brass Queens released their second full-length album and their first album of all-original music titled Hot Tub Sessions Vol. I. \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show. If you would like to eat before the show we encourage you to make a dinner reservation on Resy for our kitchen side of the venue.

SUMMARY:Selwyn Birchwood
DESCRIPTION:“Selwyn Birchwood is one of the preeminent voices in contemporary blues. He plays like a man possessed…cleverly blending elements of traditional blues\, funk\, Stax-flavored R&B and psychedelic rock into a cohesive and compelling\, expansive and cathartic artistic statement.”\n–Guitar Player \n“Birchwood is one of contemporary blues’ foremost innovators. Funky\, Southern-flavored electric blues…infectious rhythms and inventive soloing.”\n–Blues Music Magazine \n“Selwyn Birchwood is one of the best blues players today. Ferocious blues guitar…powerful voice…blistering licks galore.”\n–Vintage Guitar \nAward-winning visionary bluesman Selwyn Birchwood will releases Electric Swamp Funkin’ Blues\, his sixth Alligator Records album. Rolling Stone calls Birchwood “a remarkable\, contemporary bluesman…a powerhouse young guitarist and soulful vocalist.” Now\, this mesmerizing guitarist\, lap steel master and cinematic songwriter unleashes the powerful new self-produced album\, Electric Swamp Funkin’ Blues\, further blazing his own musical trail. The album will be available on CD\, translucent yellow vinyl LP\, and at all digital service providers. \nThe first single from the album\, the psychedelic soul sermon The Church Of Electric Swamp Funkin’ Blues\, premieres today\, along with a striking new video. The song is Birchwood’s statement-of-purpose and an open invitation for everyone to join the congregation. As Birchwood sings with foot-pounding fervor\, “the music is the mission….[it’s the] creation of joyful jubilation.” \nElectric Swamp Funkin’ Blues features 10 wildly imaginative\, laser-focused\, vibrant original songs\, produced by Birchwood and recorded in Florida. From the wide-open honesty of Damaged Goods to the up-to-the-minute observations of All Hail The Algorithm and Talking Heads\, Birchwood and his band play with honest\, emotional intensity. On Labour Of Love he looks at the pains and joys of parenting\, while The Struggle Is Real serves as an anthem for our times. Birchwood’s tough\, slide guitar opus\, What I’ve Been Accused Of\, the slow burning\, romantic Soulmate and the blazing Should’ve Never Gotten Out Of Bed\, all show Birchwood as one of contemporary blues’ most prolific\, significant and innovative artists. \nElectric Swamp Funkin’ Blues is Birchwood’s own fully realized artistic statement\, and the first of his Alligator albums that he has produced by himself. “Producing allowed me to really take the wheel and steer the music to the exact destinations that I wanted to go. It allowed me to present these songs with the full\, three-dimensional sound that I have wanted all along. This album is the full realization of the sound I have been cultivating. It tiptoes the tightrope between gritty gutbucket blues and contemporary grooves to create a soundscape that honors the roots but allows listeners to experience the music from a modern vantage point. Sharing songs with this much honesty allows us all to connect to music on a higher level…to feel a little less isolated and a little more ‘seen’ in what can be a hard life at times.” \nLive\, Birchwood is a true force of nature. A favorite among blues fans and jam band fans alike\, his ability to win over an audience—any audience—is proven night after night. With his warm\, magnetic personality\, Birchwood is as down-to-earth as his music is electrifyingly jaw-dropping. With his band feeding off his energy\, the 6’3” musician roams the stage barefoot\, ripping out memorable guitar licks with ease\, his soulful\, rocks-and-gravel vocals impossible to ignore. When he sits down to play his signature model Caladesi lap steel\, he magically lifts the crowd into a sweat-soaked state of blissful elation. Mega-star Joe Bonamassa raves\, “Selwyn Birchwood has become one of my favorite discoveries. He puts on a great show.” \nSays Birchwood\, “You would be hard-pressed to find an album or a band that sounds exactly like mine\, and that has been and always will be the goal. I pride myself in writing songs so that when you hear a band like us\, you hear a band that sounds just like…US!” \nAccording to Guitar World\, “Blues star Selwyn Birchwood is the real deal. He puts his own fresh spin on the blues\, taking the tradition and making it into something new.” \n“A remarkable\, contemporary bluesman…a powerhouse young guitarist and soulful vocalist… a major player…highly recommended”   –Rolling Stone \nFood & Bar: Our full food and drink menu will be available before and during the show.

SUMMARY:Carbon Leaf
DESCRIPTION:Carbon Leaf’s fifteenth studio album\, Time is the Playground is both a call to action and an embrace of the moment. Marrying nostalgic storytelling to nuanced\, folk-infused indie rock\, the Richmond\, Virginia band embroiders heartfelt melody and harmony with acoustic and electric instrumentation to create a 12-song rumination on time\, love and personal growth that’s equal parts urgent epiphany and contented exhalation. \n“Everybody says people don’t listen to albums anymore\,” mulled Carbon Leaf frontman Barry Privett\, holed up in a coastal cottage. “So\, the challenge for us was to make something that felt good to get through from beginning to end … to listen to like a story.” \nOriginally formed as a college cover band in 1992 and with over 3\,500 famously enthused live shows together\, Carbon Leaf helped to define the aughts indie rock that they ultimately outgrew and outlasted. They first earned national recognition with “The Boxer\,” a song that won the American Music Awards 2002 New Music Award and made Carbon Leaf the first unsigned band to perform before millions on the AMAs. \n“The Boxer” entered regular radio rotation\, Carbon Leaf’s tours grew bigger and better\, and within a couple of years they quit their day jobs and inked a record deal. The band’s fanbase snowballed\, drawn to their infectious spirit of commitment\, empathy\, communion\, and self-reliance – not to mention supremely crafted songs with ultra-relatable\, thought-provoking lyrics. \nAfter a trio of charting albums for Vanguard Records\, multiple songwriting awards and headlining shows\, Carbon Leaf opted to return to the complete creative control of their indie roots. Guitarist Terry Clark\, who co-founded the band with Privett and multi-instrumentalist Carter Gravatt\, converted his garage into the band’s Two-Car Studio\, where they’ve recorded releases for their own Constant Ivy imprint ever since. Carbon Leaf’s DIY spirit even extended to re-recording their three Vanguard albums in order to regain the rights. \nDue in September\, Time is the Playground is Carbon Leaf’s first full-length album in a decade\, during which they released two EPS and a 27-song live performance album and Blu-ray. Time is the Playground gathers the best of songs written\, in fits and starts\, over 15 years\, alongside brand new ideas. Privett dusted off old demos and shut himself away for months to finish their stories\, while also honing recent compositions. With Clark engineering\, Carbon Leaf – completed by longtime bassist Jon Markel and drummer Jesse Humphrey – spent a year and a half recording and mixing the resulting songs. “Thinking about these disparate pieces of music\, I began ruminating on time itself\,” Privett recalled. “The band’s been together a long time. You mature a bit and see yourself in place on the timeline … rolling around the scenes of love and growth.” Masterfully melding saturated AC/DC guitar and squelchy Cars synth\, “Backmask 1983” is a fun flipbook of evocative era emblems – Farah Fawcett\, “Satanic Panic\,” Time Life Books\, Bigfoot and more – that traverses the simultaneous nexus of Privett’s childhood/adolescence and the world’s analog/digital ages. It’s about morphing into a new person and a new planet with wide-eyed wonder and a longing to believe. “Without a whole lot of information\, the mystery of things felt so heightened\,” recalled Privett of growing up pre-Internet. “I wanted to capture some of that but also have fun with it.” \n“I want what we create to resonate with ourselves\, to the level that we want to play it for a long time to come\, and where we want others to hear it and experience it\,” Privett concluded. “Hopefully\, listeners can glean the pieces from it that they identify with.” \nTime is the Playground will be accompanied by the tireless touring almost synonymous with Carbon Leaf\, who’ve become a model for self-managing bands in the digital landscape. \nFood & Bar: Our full bar and a limited menu will be available before and during the show.

HE’S DEFINITELY THE GUNSLINGER GUITARIST OF THE 21ST CENTURY\,’ – PETER FRAMPTON \n\nWhether playing acoustic\, mandolin\, national steel\, or screaming electric guitar\, Davy Knowles has an unmistakable style. \nSince bursting on to the scene with his band Back Door Slam’s critically acclaimed album ‘Roll Away’ in 2007 (“I heard the spirit of Jimi Hendrix” Patrick McDonald – Seattle Times)\, Davy’s star has only risen. His sophomore release ‘Coming Up For Air’ was produced by the legendary Peter Frampton (“Davy already has a recognizable style.
