Musicians for Silent Film: Silent Treatment, Nosferatu

The band “Musicians for Silent Film” present a very special screening of the silent German film classic Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror from 1922 with a live music soundtrack! For nearly 15 years, Alex Burgoyne, Eli Chambers, Seth Daily, and Caleb Miller have been reinventing the silent film experience with their electrifying, fully improvised live scores. With backgrounds spanning jazz, new classical music, rock, pop, and beyond, their performances bring unexpected tension, humor, and depth to the screen. Audiences have called their work the “perfect accompaniment” and admitted, “I’ve never been more nervous while watching a movie I’ve seen 10 times.” Whether it’s a haunting Nosferatu or a madcap Buster Keaton adventure, they turn every screening into a one-of-a-kind sonic journey.
Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror is a 1922 silent German Expressionist vampire film directed by F.W. Murnau from a screenplay by Henrik Galeen. It stars Max Schreck as Count Oriok, a vampire who preys on the wife (Greta Schroder) of his estate agent (Gustav von Wangerheim) and brings the plague to their town. Nosferatu is an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 1887 novel Dracula. Various names and other details were changed from the novel, including Count Dracula being renamed Count Orlok.
