Sabrina Tutstone: Soul Sunday

The Gospel Soul Series hosted by Debra James Tucker continues with Sabrina Tutstone, an accomplished musician, songwriter, seasoned vocalist, and mentor. She has performed before diversified audiences making appearances worldwide. and opened for two-time Grammy Award Winner, James Ingram. For this special show at Natalie’s, Sabrina will showcase her vocal talents along with her band Charles Small III (keyboards) Robert Riley Jr (drums), Melvin Stewart (bass), and Victor Martin (guitar)

Sabrina’s shared talent and passion have opened doors that allowed her to perform over the years with several national recording artists such as The Singing Chefs, Brian Culberson, Fededric Yonnet, Dwele, Midnite Star, Maysa Leak, Shirley Murdock, Kelly Price, Wilbert Longmire, the late Gene Walker, and Hank Marr. Her resume is a reflection of diversification for her talents that were showcased in the stage play, “Five on The Black Hand Side,” at The Center Stage Theater in Columbus and she has performed with The Harmony Project Choir and her own Sabrina Tutstone Quartet.

The unique sound of vocalist Debra James Tucker is a product of extensive training in jazz, classical and gospel music. Her new album is “Voices”, which continues her exploration of early black church forms in contemporary contexts. She is the writer/performer of the one woman show Survival of the Boulevard Singer-winner of an Ohio Arts Council Award for Individual Excellence, has been a visiting instructor at Denison University in the history of African American Gospel Music, and an artist in residence with several youth arts organizations.
