A Summer Night with Kappa Kappa Psi featuring crabswithoutlegs, Island Fever Brass, and Jerrod Shackelford Quartet
- This event has passed.
The Eta chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi from The Ohio State University is hosting a night of music from rising collegiate musicians. Founded on April 23, 1923, the Eta Chapter has spent the last 100 years fostering brotherhood and serving the bands at The Ohio State University, and would like to spread this outreach to the greater Columbus community.
Crabswithoutlegs is a 9 piece jazz fusion group from Dayton and Columbus Ohio, known for their deep grooves, solos, engaging sets, and eclectic sound, known as “Ohio Crab Jazz”. The band consists of Eleanor Dakota (vocals), Carter Griffin (bass), Drew Powell (keyboards), Pat Richard (guitar), Nate Asamoah (drums), Spencer Morelock (percussion), Ivan Murray (trumpet, flugelhorn), and Phoenix Speck (saxophone).
Island Fever Brass is a brass band based out of Columbus, inspired by the sounds of New Orleans. All nine of their members are current students at The Ohio State University. Their mission is to foster a sense of community and connect with each audience member through our unique interpretations of familiar songs. Listening to them, you’ll experience a diverse range of genres including second-line, jazz, hip-hop, funk, and pop.
Jerrod Shackelford is Columbus’s premiere engineer-by-day, musician-by-night. Having performed with jazz and pop legends like Carmen Bradford, John Fedchock, Darius Rucker, and The Hughes Corporation, Shackelford is no stranger to the stage. Performing with Ethan Galbraith on organ, Logan Franklin on guitar, and Andrew Theiss on drums, this quartet will create a sound that is unforgettable.
