Gospel Soul Series: Jamar C. Jamerson

Hosted by Debra James Tucker

  • This event has passed.

The Gospel Soul Series, hosted by Debra James Tucker on the first Sunday of each month, continues at Natalie’s with special guest, Jamar C. Jamerson.

Jamar C. Jamerson, a native of Dayton, OH, began singing gospel music at the age of 3 under the tutelage of his late grandmother, Eartha Appleberry. She taught him about vocal health, sincerity, living what you sing about, and how to minister the song with the anointing. Known for his vocal versatility, rich tones, and delivery, Jamar currently serves as the Assistant Pastor and Worship Leader of the Temple of Faith COGIC. He is a sought-after vocalist and has been featured on several music projects, including those of Bishop Roger J. Hairston Sr. and the Voices of Deliverance (“My Soul Loves Jesus”), Terrence J. Dooley and Testimony (“Favor of the Lord”), Helen Jones Wright (“Latter Rain”), and Gregory J. Watkins and the Worship & Praise Chorale (“I Can See So Much”). Jamar has also sung with artists such as Dorinda Clark Cole, Ricky Dillard, Vincent Bohanna, LaShaun Pace, Bishop Rance Allen, and country music star George Strait. Additionally, he is a part of the cast of the gospel stage play “Krazy Court” by Vanessa Hi Sugha Productions. Jamar is an ordained Elder in the Church of God in Christ and an anointed gospel artist, with his only desire being that God be pleased.

The unique sound of vocalist Debra James Tucker is a product of extensive training in jazz, classical and gospel music. She is the writer/performer of the one woman show Survival of the Boulevard Singer—winner of an Ohio Arts Council Award for Individual Excellence, has been a visiting instructor at Denison University in the history of African American Gospel Music, and an artist in residence with several youth arts organizations.
