Hurling Habaneros

The Hurling Habaneros are an Americana/Roots band that jams as well! The band is made up of five long time friends who share a common vision and love for the music they play. The band members include, John Hurlbut of The Swimmers and The Hurling Stones, and manager of the Fur Peace Ranch. John plays guitar and handles vocals, along with Mark Allen (bass) and Drew Racevskis (guitar) also contributing vocals. Blue Drew and Mark were founding members of Local Color, and The Mad Habaneros. Rockin’ Louis Schocken of Strangely Enough (and a healthy dose of other bands) provides the rhythms on cajon and percussion. We are thrilled to have Skott Brown of the Mighty Troubadours join us on fiddle, mandolin, and vocals. This eclectic mix of instrumentation and team chemistry makes for dynamic and tasteful song interpretations.
Hurling Habaneros is an organic outgrowth of the genuine friendships and musical experiences its members have shared through the years. The band will be playing selections from John’s recent critically acclaimed record, “One More Lifetime” as well as Vols. 1 and 2 of “The River Flows”. These records were recorded with Rock Hall of Fame inductee Jorma Kaukonen, who John also tours with. Their set list will also include other old chestnuts and a sprinkling of original songs as well.
Over the past two years Hurling Habanero’s shows at Natalie’s have provided a full night of music, fun and fellowship. Join the band for an evening of music guaranteed to throw some high heat into the mix.
