The Soul Sunday series hosted by Debra James Tucker continues at Natalie’s Grandview with a December residency starring Jermaine Smith and Vamp Village Band. This first show will feature Schuyler Shelby Johnson and Onna Le’Chea.
Jermaine Smith is an accomplished executive producer, visionary, and entrepreneur with a deep passion for music, entertainment, and creating unforgettable live experiences. Driven by his love for live music and his desire to support local talent, Jermaine’s work is marked by a dedication to fostering community and showcasing artistry at its finest.
Schuyler Shelby Johnson released his first album “The Best is Yet to Come” in 2012, and followed up in 2021 with “The Live Experience Vol. 1.”With influences such as Daryl Coley, LaShun Pace and Kim Burrell, and he journeyed through the musical genius of Stevie Wonder, Anita Baker, Ella Fitzgerald and Luther Vandross.
Onna Le’Chea is an emerging R&B singing enthusiast celebrated for her smooth tones and remarkable background vocal abilities. With a passion for creating memorable experiences through music, Onna is known for her genuine stage presence and brings good energy and heartfelt emotion to every performance.
The unique sound of vocalist Debra James Tucker is a product of extensive training in jazz, classical and gospel music. Her new album is “Voices”, which continues her exploration of early black church forms in contemporary contexts. She is the writer/performer of the one woman show Survival of the Boulevard Singer-winner of an Ohio Arts Council Award for Individual Excellence, has been a visiting instructor at Denison University in the history of African American Gospel Music, and an artist in residence with several youth arts organizations.
