Jermaine Smith & Vamp Village Band w’ Latoya Jones, Carmen Lyles, Destiny Tanae: Soul Sunday

The Soul Sunday series hosted by Debra James Tucker continues at Natalie’s Grandview with a December residency starring Jermaine Smith and Vamp Village Band. This show will also feature the talents of Latoya Jones, Carmen Lyles, and Destiny Tanae.

Jermaine Smith is an accomplished executive producer, visionary, and entrepreneur with a deep passion for music, entertainment, and creating unforgettable live experiences. Driven by his love for live music and his desire to support local talent, Jermaine’s work is marked by a dedication to fostering community and showcasing artistry at its finest. 

Carmen began singing at just 9 years old and hasn’t stopped since. Being the youngest of her siblings, she discovered at a young age that much like her family, she had a unique gift, and admired artists like Brandy, Mary Mary, Whitney Houston and Kierra Sheard to name a few. It is Carmen’s desire, that everywhere she goes there’s a feeling of inclusion, freedom and happiness. 

Destiny Tanae is an R&B Soul artist who studied vocal music at Ohio University, grew up singing with her church, and at multiple events around Columbus. With a lifelong passion for music, she appreciates how a single song can evoke a wide range of emotions and resonate differently with each listener. The unique sound of vocalist Debra James Tucker is a product of extensive training in jazz, classical and gospel music. Her new album is “Voices”, which continues her exploration of early black church forms in contemporary contexts. She is the writer/performer of the one woman show Survival of the Boulevard Singer-winner of an Ohio Arts Council Award for Individual Excellence, has been a visiting instructor at Denison University in the history of African American Gospel Music, and an artist in residence with several youth arts organizations.
