Such Sweet Thunder: Celebrating Duke Ellington’s 125th Birthday
- This event has passed.
Natalie’s presents a special night of music with the return of Such Sweet Thunder, featuring some of the Midwest’s finest jazz musicians, paying loving tribute to the music of Duke Ellington and his musical partner Billy Strayhorn. We will premier new music and celebrate the 125th anniversary of Duke’s birth! This project is a labor of love sparked by Ryan Hamilton and Tony Gayle McClung, and brought to life by the fantastic musicians they’ve lined up. The band consists of Michael Cox (alto saxophone, clarinet), Bryan Olsheshki (tenor saxophone, clarinet), Mark Donavan (baritone saxophone, clarinet, bass clarinet), Jim Powell (trumpet, flugelhorn), Ryan Hamilton (trombone, arrangements), Lucas Holmes (piano), Dean Hulett (bass), and Tony Gayle McClung (drums, banjo).
